Matete was another bright spot last night (apart from the second goal).

"Clearly, it’s going to take time for Matete to settle, build an understanding with his teammates, and start producing his best but there were signs that landing him could prove to be a fantastic bit of business.

Matete’s tenacity was clear to see in his work out of possession – winning seven of his 12 defensive duels, three of his four aerial duels, and four of 10 loose ball duels (Wyscout).

In future, he’ll want to improve his defensive and loose ball success rate but the number of duels that he was involved in against Cheltenham highlight his hunger and work rate.

Additionally, the midfielder read the game and broke up play well, as his seven interceptions and 12 ball recoveries last night illustrate.

The 20-year-old’s quality while in possession was also on show at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

With Cheltenham happy to sit in deep for long periods, Matete took advantage and had success driving forward with the ball at his feet, often using a combination of his agile footwork and strength to create space as he completed all five of his dribbles against Fleetwood.

He looked after possession fairly well as well – completing 38 of his 47 passes (81% success) – including five of eight into the final third."
I thought he did well - his passing was something i noticed straight away when he came on against Doncaster - was fizzing it about properly.

I did think he was a bit weak for the goal but i'm prepared to cut him some slack - i think he will be a positive for us going forward.
