I park at the stadium, and to be fair don't care who was to blame, and know errors can be made. However people were rightfully getting frustrated with the stewards. I witnessed one man get out of his car and spoke to a steward, who in turn was getting argumentative. The next thing is the stewards called the police over to speak to the individual. Is it really a crime to voice your opinion? Then a female steward shouted that they were not to blame and that it was the police as they did not block the roads off. As we were driving away one of the other stewards was shouting that we could not do as good a job as him. To be honest I don't give a monkeys but think the downfall around the stadium when leaving is a lack of positive communication from the stewards. Rather than using 4 stewards to stop one car I think one should have walked along the queue talking to cars, explaining the situation, at least then people would have been more understanding towards them.
No worries. Just thought it was interesting in the context of your opinion towards the name change (as in perspectives from fans from abroad).
I have a disabled passenger so we have a season parking pass in one of the disabled bays around perimeter - otherwise I prob would. Don't usually mind waiting a little while after the game but a lack of communication today meant the wait was very frustrating !
All the road works going on at the same time makes me wonder, does the council have some money left & they have to use it before they get their allowance cut for next year! Don't know really how it works but if you don't use it you maybe you have it reduced next year! Why would you have road works at the same time on the flyover, Calvert rd & spring bank west at the same time? Hull fair next up ha ha
I have to say i got home for quarter past five and live in Hessle. Never been any later than half five from a home game, not sure why you lot have all this trouble, should try and find somewhere else to park!
There is some misplaced hatred here... The Stewards have no authority to direct traffic on a highway - and the Walton St area and car park are open to the public by payment so they are in that definition. They are just there to help, and would be open to huge claims if they started wafting their hands about and causing mayhem (however well intentioned...). The Police do have authority but wont stand the huge cost of a major re routing job - this isn't just one junction it is a large area with lights and loads of exits. The road works were not signposted and caused me mayhem driving back up SBW and having to detour up Willerby Road to get to the M62. Walton St was gridlocked with no one knowing what to do or why it was that way. I blame the council, and the highways dept for not ensuring there were announcements in the stadium and signage to warn those coming into the city. Utter shambles. That said, a traffic directing operation would have been huge due to the geography and number of options. Ultimately, it was always going to be a mess. Bad timing etc. Move on.
This season is my first season driving and having a season parking pass, it it's true that Walton Street is closed next week, what measures are put in place in terms of Parking? Do you have to find your own alternative parking? Or are alternative means provided? Or have I misunderstood altogether? (Was getting out really that bad yesterday? I don't usually get out of the car park until about 5.40 and I got out at 6 last night... 20 minutes more is not really devastating).
Well he would wouldn't he, they do even less than the hi-vis brigade. I bet the plod get loads of volenteers on match days. Watch the footy and get in for nowt. It should be their job to keep the traffic moving, Christ they do **** all else for their fees
the season parking pass doesn't cover Hull fair week - it says it on the ticket - you have to find alternate parking yourself which means arrive very early, get the bus or walk -yesterday was as bad as I can remember - i have no idea why Walton street isnt closed from Spring Bank for an hour after full time as it would avoid much of the problem - but that involves someone with a brain which is clearly lacking with the organisation and management of traffic around the stadium on match days
Must admit, haven't read my ticket so thanks for clarifying that. If I was to walk i'd have to set off now, walking from Garforth is quite a trek, what with it being 50 miles away haha. I'll just get the train in I reckon, that'll be easiest.
