2-0, FT. Not a great performance, by any means, but a decent result, I guess.
Win, clean sheet and we go into the last game in 6th.
Players look tired, the tactics aren't suited to it and we're struggling.
Need a big performance against Everton or other teams to **** it up, really.

A clean sheet!!! And I can never understand why we don't see more of Stambouli. I only saw the second half but it seemed like we did just enough at key moments to deserve the win. Great play from Mason and Rose for the second. Nice to finish our home games off with a win.
I felt some sympathy for Steve Bruce.He had his head in his hands quite a few times and we had all the luck going.........for once!
No I don't think so, he jogged off the pitch and came back on briefly. I think he only got substituted so he could have a standing ovation at WHL.

Anyway, nice to end on a win. Wasn't our best performance and the goal was very definitely against the run of play but from then on we were pretty comfortable apart from that one manic moment. Second goal was the kind of brilliance that we don't see enough of from our players, those chipped passes and slide balls in behind the defence always seem to just evade the attacker's run. If we could do that a bit more often we'd carry far more of a threat. Credit to Mason(I think) for the pass and Rose for finishing it well. Rose has had such a great season I'm not going to even laugh at his new haircut
On the negative side... bloody Kane's miss at the end! I had Chadli to score first and 3-0 which would've got be £60 and had 3-0 seperately which would've won me £70. I've got half a mind to invoice him for that money
Also Fazio's terrible, he's got the composure of Messi but the footballing ability of Tony Gardner which means he's always about 10 seconds away from doing something stupid. That pass to the Hull player in the first half is just one in a long line of stupid decisions he makes on the ball.

I remembered today just how much I enjoy watching Tommy Huddlestone play football. And I also remembered today how much I miss watching a decent CD play at the Lane. Dawson confirmed today he knows how to defend, whereas Fazio confirmed today he isn't good enough to lace Dawson's boots.
We won, we kept a rare clean sheet, so I guess I should be happy, but there's a part of me which feels sad to be reminded by the performance of two returning old boys, of how much we have gone backwards over the past few seasons.

Rose has apparently said in an interview after the match that he dyed his hair purple yesterday and when he woke this morning it was red
I think we did go massively backwards under avb and that was slowed under sherwood...I honestly think there have been some very good signs this season.
I agree re Fazio but can see why Dawson was sold (think we should have kept him personally)...however huddlestone has never been mobile enough for a team who play a high tempo pressing game...neither he or Dawson would have been prepared to be squad players which is a great credit to them both.
I also think it shows where they are, in football terms, that they are about to get relegated.
Livermore, Dawson, Huddlestone are about to go down, Caulker has gone down twice, Sandro is going down and Defoe (one blinding goal aside) has not set sunderland alight...the club has got those sale right it seems

Disagree quite strongly. That Dawson and Huddlestone are "about to go down", in no way discredits them as PL players.
I know you do mate...something we just do not see eye to eye on...I agree that Dawson and Huddlestone are not discredited by Hull going down...but I do not think them being here would improve us.
One thing we will agree on though is that the reaction to them today was brilliant

Haha, nice way to end our final home game, wasn't the best of performances but it was efficient. Rose deserve his goal after the season he's had (not sure about the hair though) and I thought Chadli and Lamela worked brilliantly for the first, just shows Lamela CAN weight a nice pass every now and then and when Chadli's in a position like that you'd put your house on him finishing. Was great seeing Daws and Hudd back and they got the reception they deserved, ironically the way this season petered out, I'd have had Daws in our squad over Vlad and Fazio all day long, same applies to Hudd over Dembele, Paulinho and Capoue.
Felt quite bad for the Hull fans if I'm honest, I'm usually a bit brutal to away supporters if we've beaten them, more so if we've relegated them (Birmingham a few years back was sadistically enjoyable) but their fans were just trying to have a laugh yesterday, both sets joined in a chant about Livermore which was a laugh and there wasn't much animosity between the fans, though we did sing the usual "we'll never play you again" a couple of times. I hope they get the result they need against Utd, wouldn't want to see the likes of Daws, Hudd and Jake (despite the latter being a tit) go down, especially Daws as he's at an age where he can't really be biding his time in the Championship hoping for a swift Premier League return, to be honest (not that it will happen as he clearly doesn't fit into Poch's plans) I'd happily applaud the club if they re-signed him as one of the players to hopefully replace Kaboul/ Vlad/ Faz, wouldn't be a 1st choice player but he'd be a damn site better to rely upon than those three.
The little after party in the Bell and Hare was a laugh, good bit of music being played in the garden and the fans were all in good spirits.
All in all a decent end to our home campaign, hopefully if what Levy says in his end of season message is true (I'm sure I read about them knowing it was going to be a season of slow progress while looking to help Poch strengthen in the Summer) then I think we'll be heading towards a good season for 15/16.

Yesterday's performance was no better than the previous few weeks. Slow build up allowing the opposition to get 10 men behind the ball; messing around in defence; tiredness. The only difference was the finishing quality of Hull and a couple of good finishes by us.
I feel really bad for Thud and Daws who I think are too good to go down-if Bournemouth or Watford are looking to strengthen with Premier experience, they should definitely buy them.
As for next season, we need to rotate more during the season so players don't burn out-Where have I heard that before?

Well, good to have a win. Lamela had his best PL game of the year, I thought. I particularly liked how he was fighting for the ball and winning it at the end, when the rest of the team was content to sit back and count on Hull's poor finishing. Chadli continues to be our best finisher, and Rose is putting the finishing touches on an excellent year.
My diagnosis is fragile team confidence that seems to have something to do with the system Pochettino has us playing. Once we got a goal, we looked like a good team again. I thought it was signficant we got the goal on the counter. I'm afraid the players have stopped believing the way they're playing works, and the numbers back them up. The last thing I want to do is change managers, but Pochettino needs to change, or at least tweak, his system enough to get the players believing in it again.
I also don't understand why we haven't seen more of Stambouli, who's been consistently decent. Fazio has been awful for us, no doubt. He needs to play on a team that doesn't press high, it's as simple as that.
I feel bad for Hull. In fact, most of the teams facing relegation I like, so nothing was likely to make me very happy. While Livermore has apparently been extremely stupid, I feel very bad for him. We all make mistakes, and the one Livermore made was a long way from killing anybody. Rules is rules, but they're a bit arbitrary. There are few worse things an athlete in training can do than get good and ploughed, and that is perfectly okay as long as it's done discreetly.
On the bright side, I think we've got an excellent group of young players. If we can figure out what to do with them, we could be dangerous.
