"There's every reason to think West Ham will clog it up, as they did at Schalke,
and that we probably won't look good. That also won't mean much."

It will mean Spurs have not learnt their lesson.
Delivering the ball to the opponent third has to be a lot faster, and passing more accurate,
in order to prevent them arranging their defence to clog up MF.

If Brasil 2014 becomes the fashion, you have even less time on the ball in MF in the PL
this season.

My thought is that the setup Poch is bringing in will work better, and look better, against some setups than others. I'd be concerned if we looked bad playing a team like Swansea or Southampton who play an open, attacking game without our talent level. I wouldn't be nearly as concerned if we don't look good against West Ham, when they're likely to park the bus, grab and push. It seemed to me Poch's setup and tactics went completely out the window when Chicago did that. I hope there's some improvement from that performance, but even the best teams tend to look a lot more ordinary when they play teams that play negatively, and it will only be Poch's sixth game, and second where all our players were available.

But because of the history, a win over West Ham is important. It will be interesting to see if this team is any good at grabbing three points.

I have to say that I'm happy with the way the pre season has gone with no one player banging them in too regularly. I say that because I remember Bent banging in hat trick after hat trick in Ramos' pre season and when the business end started he completely dried up which is an experience which has stuck with me. I still say that we must play Bobby Sol first.
