Paddy had heard on the news about the riots and looting in London and decided to join in. He gave up on the looting though when he couldn't find a pound for the trolley.
Classic episode. And to think it was all down to Del singing when pissed.
It's actually rather more comical than that (for those that would otherwise miss it, the events are real but there's a bit of sarcasm added in).
Because of that shooting on Thursday(?) they were having a peaceful protest about heavy handed police tactics in the area. Then a 16 year old girl threw a stone at police who only had their riot gear and shields to protect them from her vicious attack and did the only thing they could to prevent them all suffering death or paralysis. That's right, a dozen or so of them went and attacked her and started knocking her about the place using their shields.
For some reason the crowd felt it was heavy handed. I can't imagine why, I mean it's obvious that to subdue a teenage girl it's going to take that many burly men when all they've got to aid them is body armour, batons, and shields. Anyway, the rest of the crowd kicked off trying to "defend" the girl, as if she couldn't handle them herself, and the whole thing escalated from there.
Obviously opportunists then decided they were going to have that new TV they'd had their eye on, and the youths stormed McDonalds and started doing themselves some food (they really did) and it's carried on elsewhere as a bit of a laugh.
No wonder they started in Birmingham monday as news filters thru that Scott Danns is leaving for Liverpool and his replacement is non other than the Own Goal King.....Mr Anthony Gardner.
