It is overdue. The rest of it is easy to explain: Real want to buy and bully their way towards the best players--and be seen as the buyer and bullier; the press, for whom integrity has no temptation, want to sell papers and get hits; Bale's agent understands that frequent trips to Spain are probably his best negotiating tactic. But now that I think about it, I don't know why Spurs shouldn't be howling in protest. I'm glad they (finally) are.
 
The authorities (laugh) should instal a code of practice for transfers. With media help it's becoming a major bloody nuscance. Of course they wont, no money in it.
 
So just thought I'd share something funny (and after reading this some of you may wonder if I'm actually a 10 year-old boy):

So the night before last I had a dream where I was a Spurs player. As a couple of players and I were about to leave somewhere I asked them to wait for me so I could go back and have a quick word with Gareth Bale. I got there and told him "Look: you and me - we play for Spurs. We goddamn well play for Tottenham Hotspur! Isn't that amazing? Why would you want to go anywhere else?"

Gareth was rather disconcertingly unmoved by my speech, hardly looking me in the eye, I am sorry to report.

Maybe we are considering packing out the area so much it forms our defensive line. Matches would be a lot more relaxing if the ball never made it into our half

Funnily enough that is, actually, AVB's tactics in a nutshell isn't it? Or at least how you'd explain them to a small child. Or me.
