It is overdue. The rest of it is easy to explain: Real want to buy and bully their way towards the best players--and be seen as the buyer and bullier; the press, for whom integrity has no temptation, want to sell papers and get hits; Bale's agent understands that frequent trips to Spain are probably his best negotiating tactic. But now that I think about it, I don't know why Spurs shouldn't be howling in protest. I'm glad they (finally) are.
The authorities (laugh) should instal a code of practice for transfers. With media help it's becoming a major bloody nuscance. Of course they wont, no money in it.
So just thought I'd share something funny (and after reading this some of you may wonder if I'm actually a 10 year-old boy): So the night before last I had a dream where I was a Spurs player. As a couple of players and I were about to leave somewhere I asked them to wait for me so I could go back and have a quick word with Gareth Bale. I got there and told him "Look: you and me - we play for Spurs. We goddamn well play for Tottenham Hotspur! Isn't that amazing? Why would you want to go anywhere else?" Gareth was rather disconcertingly unmoved by my speech, hardly looking me in the eye, I am sorry to report.
Oh God - that is so very possible. I definitely knew in the back of my mind that I shouldn't really have been a professional footballer and I was about to get found out any minute.
Quote from Sky "Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Tottenham Hotspur are in talks over a new contract for Gareth Bale. We'll bring you more shortly." That at least would put a stop on all the talk for another year!!
Let me just put that better for you ... Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Tottenham Hotspur are in talks over a new contract for Gareth Bale. We'll bring you more shortly
That's why they run all those stories about my mum! Was starting to wonder. She's nearly seventy and absolutely **** at football so it always seemed odd...
from twitter: "The only sticking point on the Soldado deal is the installments. everything else is fine, this weekend we'll know if we've got him."
Also on the DM this morning, seeing as we're in an optimistic mood today http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...y-snub-80m-Madrid-Spurs-Champions-League.html
a few reports also suggesting we're after Fiorentina's Adem Ljajic. Yep, you guessed it... another attacking midfielder!
Maybe we are considering packing out the area so much it forms our defensive line. Matches would be a lot more relaxing if the ball never made it into our half Did anyone else notice that Bale appears able to fly?
Funnily enough that is, actually, AVB's tactics in a nutshell isn't it? Or at least how you'd explain them to a small child. Or me.
The Chadli deal's finally been confirmed by the OS: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/chadli-terms-agreed-260713/ He's been training with us for several days and already had his initiation with the squad.
