Where are Spurs getting the money for signing these players? I imagine Paulinho and David Villa between them will cost close to £30M and that is before agent fees, sign on bonus and wages are discussed. When you consider that a new stadium is being sought after and you recently disclosed a year ending loss (albeit a minor one) recently, and FFP around the corner with another season of no CL football, I am struggling to see how you can afford making these kind of signings unless Bale is being sold.
And I am not saying for one second Bale is leaving, I believe he will stay, which is why I don't know how you can afford these players.
If Chelsea and City are FFP compliant, do you really think we have anything to worry about after a tiny loss and(hopefully) signing a couple of new players?
As others have said, there has been money available since selling Modric. If there wasn't we wouldn't have been working up to the last minute to bring in Moutinho last summer for supposedly around £24mill. This was further proved when our £16mill Damiao transfer fell apart at the last minute in the January window.
I imagine the main idea behind it is offsetting against the significant advantages Bale gives us. Bale might be mocked by away fans in England but abroad he's much admired and puts us on the map which boosts us off the pitch. So by signing Villa, in particular, we send a further message that will be heard around the World and can only boost our value to sponsors. Bale's value is another thing we can offset on, if we don't get into the top 4 next season he's gone and if we do we cover our spending from this summer. Easy, peasy

Nothing against Soton or Damiao but I'm past caring now. If we signed him it would probably be a bit of anti-climax and I want shiny new signings.
