Torrres was shocking when he came on vs Barc. Was just giving the ball away. Even the goal, he did so, carried on running whne he should have been tracking back, and the ball suddenly fell in his path. Absolute fluke. Drogba gave him a lesson in playing a lone striker role when backs are against the wall.

Glad it isn't just me who thinks this !

yes but moments earlier he had lost the ball in a dangerous place. Ray 'nice guy' wilkins even said he was having a mare before the goal.

I'm wasnt disputing he was having a stinker, I was disputing that anyone couldve scored that goal. He did brilliantly, it was no way in hell a 'gimme' as some seem to be suggesting.

well no because he still had to take it round the keeper. He did play well today though. I hope it gives him confidence because I always thought he was a great player. His lack of form has been a mystery. He was dreadfull in the world cup and that was nearly 2 years ago. Maybe it's been a mixture of injuries, confidence and the £50 million price tag ?

Obviously he's a class act, and is bang in form, but it's no wonder some gave him a lot of stick.

He was hopeless for aaaaaages.

He carried on running because he saw that there was basically no one but him outside of Chelsea's quarter of the pitch. If the 9 players could defend and clear the ball anywhere near the half way line, which happens fairly often, he knew he could have saved the last few minutes of stoppage time, which is another 2-3 desperate Barcelona attacks, and he did. This also explains why he lost it in the first place, if he ran past then all he had to do was outrun the defenders to Barcelona's area. Having said that, before that goal he didn't play well. But he knew what he was doing staying up there

The funny thing is I saw him staying up and thought if they could get a clearance to him it could pay off, wasn't on here at the time but could have added it to my list of great predictions coming in recently!

Has to be Torres for me, he is on fire now, would be hard on Drogba to be dropped but Torres is a proven big game player, scoring the winner at the Euros, I think he could terrorise Bayerns shaky defence

i think there will be a compremise. Torres in the fa cup final, Drogba in the champions league final.

I reckon Mclean could have probably managed to put it wide

True, and Fryatt or Evans would have run all that way to the keeper only to not have a shot.

I disagree with this. His first touch from the clearance was exceptional. If he'd had even an average touch he wouldnt have been able to break away as he did.

Agreed.

Got to say how well Di Matteo has done to get all of their best players playing well. AVB seemed to be on a mission to just make that club a big media frenzy dropping his better players all the time but Di Matteo has got the best out of both strikers and people like Sturridge, Meireles, Ramires, etc. have all done well too.
