A couple of wins and the cash out will be worth it....but then you'll get all excited and stay in....but the ride will be fun. Can we have a vicarious ride with you in the form of a thread on these bets, like we had before?

No probs sausage - we'll see what the cash out is after the Jacks game. <ok>

At the moment, as a new bet I can still cash out the whole amount, but will it be lower or higher after Sunday?

Do you wanna bet on that?........<laugh>

Just thinking about the last time we lost 6-1 in the league (i think it was the last time).
DJ in charge and we lost to preston.
Ended the season in 7th. Level on points with 6th. Level on goal difference. Missed out by 1 goal scored.
Fate couldn't be so cruel again, surely......

It was actually 6-0.

If it had been 6.1 we might have got in the play offs. Can't remember the goal difference position though.

I just remember the big black cloud which followed me around for the next few weeks. I got so used to it that I gave it a name - Deep f**ckin' Dale. <yikes>:emoticon-0130-devil:emoticon-0130-devil:emoticon-0130-devil

We missed a penalty at Preston and also in our final home game v Ipswich( both McCormack) and had either gone in we’d have been in play offs. I think we needed 2 points from the final 4 games but got just one<doh>

Remember that well Nin. I think that's why Jones sat McCormack on the bench that final game at Sheff Wed. From memory, I don't think McCormack was very happy about being left out of the starting lineup at the time.

DJ went up there for the draw and one point which would have been enough. He thought he was getting away with it playing safe and subbed Chopra for McCormack with about 20 minutes to go rather than taking someone like Gavin Rae off and going for it. Then they scored the only goal and we had no answer - we'd blown it.

The thing I recalled from that run in was the buzzing atmosphere in the ground when we beat Burnley just prior to the Preston implosion. Nobody thought we’d collapse and even after the horridly flat last home game at NP losing to Ipswich, there was still no real concern as if Preston lost at Bham in the evening kick off we’d be ok but they won with a last minute Ross Wallace free kick. It then dawned that we needed something at Hillsborough and what a miserable occasion that was:emoticon-0101-sadsm

For some reason I didn't go to that Ipswich game so I guess that Burnley game must have been the last time I watched City at NP and it was a blast. I thought playoffs were a certainty when McCormack got those two late goals to win it and even give us an outside chance of an auto spot. I never imagined that last 4 game capitulation.

Fair play, nearly man DJ did get us into the playoffs the next couple of seasons, but the least said about those the better. Holloway and then Reading spring to mind. <doh>

Sorry guys, didnt mean to dredge up all that pain from yesteryear.

The fact it still hurts after all that time shows how much posters on here feel about the club.
