Updated op again.

One last time to go.

5th is now the worst we can get.

West ham only need a point for 6th.

Spurs have managed to create a scenario where they need to win just to get to the crappy 3rd tier new tournament, even a draw and everton can take that slot bit play the champions elect at a title party game.

Leicester need a big win or liverpool to lose or draw.

Chelsea wont be sure of 4th unless they win.
Leicester were always the most vulnerable (I said that weeks ago:bandit: ) West Ham sort of crumbled in the last couple of weeks. Otherwise they would have been 5th ahead of Leicester.

its a tight one all round now.

spurs could literally be the club that blew title (according to Levy), blew top 4, blew any chance of a trophy and europe, and are now sat looking at things with no manager and are in 7th in the worse European slot possible but will play a side needing to hockey them to get top 4.

the are likely to be out totally of Europe and could end behind arsenal.

and yet... they could get 6th if the win and west ham lose.

In the end liverpool are +4 so just need to win well again sunday to get that position.

Leicester gloriously winning the FA cup has laid the ground for them missing the top 4 yet again. But they or their fans won’t care and the repeat of the last minute drop from CL qualification won’t dampen their elation and joy at the FA Cup glory. Their edge and competitiveness could be completely gone. I can’t see anything but a comfortable Chelsea Win on Tuesday 3-0.

So that before final day of the season,

3. Chelsea: 67
4. LFC: 66
5. Leicester: 66

LFC have the easiest match and end on 69.
Chelsea with their eye on the CL final, draw against Villa and end on 68
Leicester have the toughest match and end on 67or even 66

So this season could end as well as we started. Just that we had a dip in the middle. And interestingly the same CL qualifiers as last season but in different order.

Bookmarked.
Thank you.

Well update op for final time.

City 86
Utd 74
Liverpool 69
Chelsea 67
-------------------
Leicester 66
West ham 65
--------------------
Spurs 62
-------------------
Arsenal 61
Leeds 59
Everton 59

Leicester showed what a stupid decision can mean. They partied then played chelsea and lost both final games to lose 3rd place which was I their hands easily.

Chelsea fell over the line in 4th

West ham end in the europa and will likely throw it next year to focus on survival

Spurs get to tour the far east all season next year.

Everton somehow managed to blow the entire thing and ended 10th which is frankly misterable

Leeds finishing 9th very impressive especially as it was done with some brilliant football rather than sheff United last season who also had a brilliant season but was focussed on many 1-0 wins

Finished 17pts behind Man City, we dropped 20pts in January and February...

Yeah but what'll ya do :)

City sleep walked over the line under no pressure for a.domestic double with a small d and the champions league final to come.

In prior seasons they've been better than this but imo they have done it without a forward or two which is just testament to winning 20 odd in a row and solid defense.

Completely self inflicted. Not that this is in retrospect and with benefit of hindsight. Some of us had pointed this out early when we started losing matches. But as soon as we changed to a more rational system we played like champions again. But huge credit to Klopp for recognising his error and changing on time to get us into the champions league.

The real battle is keeping the 7 below us firmly below us next season.

I just think we need to freshen up now to kick on again. There was a top 6 going for esl but it should have been a top 8.

It's about time the small.minds at the bottom stopped dominating the discussion and the up and coming clubs with good followings and stronger teams now started talking. The prem also needs to evolve to prosper. Theres a strong 6 or 7 there in the middle who horse trade with the small clubs too much.

Villa, everton, leicester, west ham, newcastle, leeds.might join them. These are big clubs with big followings and quite frankly there was a time where 2 of them were bigger than spurs or arsenal, there is a time now where they are certainly dining at the same table right now.

The lower half type mentality of 40 is enough had held back clubs like palace imo. Southampton have under performed.

I hope clubs really kick on now and really make the prem the best league, not just the biggest boasting league.

I'm amazed that we managed the run.that we ended with tbh bearing in mind all the injuries.

I think this season was a good learning curve for Klopp tactically. You can see just how important Fabinho and Henderson (basically at least one of those two) are to our midfield, and as slow as Williams and Phillips are, having Fab and Hendo at CB was generally detrimental.

Our season.

can see we were never on that blue line. Game 15 was west brom 1-1 from there to game 28 we were 3-3-8.

First 14: 9-4-1 finishing with a 7-0 v palace.
Next 14 games. 3-3-8
Last 10: 8-2-0

Of those 8 games: drew v west brom, newcastle, lost to southampton, brighton, everton and fulham. We also drew with man utd, beat spurs and west ham and lost to man city and leicester.

really 16 points thrown away there in games where our team just failed but they picked it up in the last 10.

If you look our end of season was only as good in 2018/19 and 2017/18

Hopefully we can look at that middle section of the season and reflect on why the goals utterly dried up.

interesting graphics. Shows visually what we’ve been saying. The first third we were fully on course for the title. Then the dip in the middle caused the trouble. However we recovered in the last third without VVD and Henderson so their absence cannot fully explain the dip.

Well I would say we were just off the pace a little over the first 15 games. 32 points earned.

Then relegation for 13 games. 11 from 13 games. 11

Then we earned 26 from last 10. Which is title winning form normally.

So a bit of a mixed bag then

while I will still be pessimistic I hope next season will be better but I do worry about the frailty of our side

In the last ten years, only Man City and Liverpool have finished in the top four the season after winning the league

[HASHTAG]#acheivement[/HASHTAG].

cheslea and utd won it in last 10 years? surely thats a terrible return.

I think we all excuse leicester.

2014; Man City
2015; Chelsea
2016; Leicester
2017; Chelsea
2018; Man City
2019; Man City
2020; Liverpool
2021; Man City

So Man Utd twice, Chelsea twice and Leicester. But we're the terrible title defenders ;)

some people would want to wake the **** up to financial doping wouldn't they?

It was ok i suppose when utd had the most fans, best run team and biggest stadium driving dominance and others just see that as someone else is no in charge but fundamentally it just is not. It is financial doping.

Cheslea continue to massively under achieve based on their own financial doping but they just will not put in the expertise properly but act like a classic plaything and sack the manager every 5 minutes.

the only thing to be said for the prem compared to italy and france and spain and germany is theres always someone there or thereabouts who might pick up the crumbs if the dominant force has a bad issue. lille and inter have won titles. its almost certin in 7 or 8 years we will look back and see those leagues dominated by PSG and juve again.
