Last night we just looked like try bards, a plucky lower level outfit who’d got a decent cup draw against a big team. The lack of quality outside of Trippir and Gordon was apparent. Thought Wilson in particular was dire, though Joelinton and Almiron were both poor.

Third is probably about right, unfortunately. But we’ve probably got more chance of progress in the EL.

Come on mate we gave Dortmund a good go and could've won.

This is the elite.

Agree go for the Europa.. 3rd finish would be impressive in this group tbh

We were poor but Wilson should have buried one of those in the second half.

He has a good record for us but does miss a fair few chances.

A draw would have been fine aswell, oh well.

I agree but I think Dortmund were typical very well coached and trained... we can't expect a group of players containing Burn lascelles and Longstaff to turn over the elite every two weeks.

Never said i did expect it.

Though it felt like lots of fans turned up expecting us to just win, atmosphere was horrific for such a game.

I never said you did

Agree with you ...the expectations are now back to unrealistic as they used to be I guess.

The media plays the fans like a skin flute btw.... one week newcastle are getting over hyped the next they've had a reality check

Truth is they're doing well.

Harsh

Loads of people in the ground just moan at anything, it's like they are just waiting to have a go at someone for losing the ball, they don't support, they need to **** off tbh.

I agree mate it's depressing how quickly the fans are turning into Everton fans.

BTW if you'd given me this position after the first 3 games before the 1st game I'd have taken it.. it's a decent enough return need a big result though.

We've been on a good run we are going to lose at some point but we were still always in the game, i'm disappointed but i don't feel that down about it today, we are doing very well overall, it's mental that we are even in the champions league so soon.

I'm more concerned about the injuries mounting up, we are bare bones now.

I do think we’ll be in for a surprise against Wolves. No Botman, Isak, Barnes.. almost a full 90 for Wilson etc.. it’s got 2-0 defeat written all over this game. Not looking forward to it.

Gordon & Miggy will crash and burn at some point.

Looking fwd to the next 3 ... going to be tough need a win at Dortmund most likely but excited to have the chance.

The ****s thought we'd lose every game.

Tough game mate they've looked quite good this season actually.

Dortmund schooled us imo. They knew the way to handle an away CL fixture.. Injuries messed with our plan. We'll learn. Hey ho. Still amazing where we are from 2 years ago. Perspective lads.

would they have won the champions league with lacelles longstaff Burn and Murphy.. no

They won the Champions League with Djimi Traore, Steve Finnan and Harry Kewell in the starting line up. These players ain't better than the ones you mention above.

Liverpool at that time were massive underdogs to get anywhere near the final, let alone beat a great Milan side in the final.

No one's saying we're gonna win the CL with these players, or that we won't upgrade in time, but they are doing a job right now, especially Longstaff ...plus we actually have upgraded on Laecelles with Botman and Longstaff with Tonali, but circumstances have dictated that we have to play the squad players right now.

They had a good team at the time ... the players I've mentioned would not win the champions league.. you mentioned champions league initially.

You mentioned champions league because I said lacelles longstaff Murphy and Burn are not good enough

Instead of trying to find reasons to believe the players I've mentioned aren't sub standard for top clubs in 2023 why not consider the fact they are not ? Would they get in Liverpools 11?

He was the player that created the chance in the 1st place.. he's a good player miggy not easy for any side to deal with.

Where's the noise about Gordon's woeful effort and his responsibility I losing the ball that lead to their goal?

Longstaff and Joelinton were ****ng dreadful yesterday.

Think I was literally the first person to say Gordon (and Wilson) needed to take the chances.

The goal for them was a great tackle, counter, overlapping run and assist from Schlotterbeck - true individual quality and very little we could do about it. To blame Gordon seems very harsh as the defender just got a toe to it and if he hadn't we were in 3v2 10 yards inside their half with Miggy, Isak and Gordon on the run. Just have to give them credit unfortunately.

Again, not disputing he did well in the build up or at any other point during the game - but as an isolated instance of an attempted control of the ball it was amazingly fustrating - because he's better than that, no way should he be making that decision to control the ball with his left - body shape dictated that he should be trying with his right and the only reason he doesn't he's so weak on his right he panics and tries to get everything on to his left when if he backed himself to at least try with his right and still mis-controlled it I'd not have had a complaint...

Let's just hope we can win vs wolves mate I'm not criticising the performance just saying we need to replace the Mike Ashley underbelly to push on.

Almiron isn't a player I'd be referring to.

One thing i will say..going into the season with just two strikers was a mental decision.

I guess they just can't fill every position in 4 windows mate.

The tears about Livramento and Hall are short sighted because those were areas they also needed to fill over time and they have.

5 to 10 years is information given by Staveley that was completely ignored or forgotten.
