“Manchester United’s captain, Harry Maguire, is likely to be named in the squad despite being out of action since 9 May with ankle ligament damage and being a doubt for the Euro 2020opener against Croatia on 13 June.”

IF that happens - very sensible .... & picked on form, obvs <doh>

Never understood that, taking an injured player to a tournament
Imagine you get dropped from the final squad cos your no better than an injured clogger

Was at Old Trafford yesterday. Shocked by how poor Leeds were at the back - never seen a team give away so many dangerous balls through a reluctance to actually just take the sensible option and play the ball along the sidelines when no easy pass on. Even the goalkeeper was at it.

Teams seem to have figured out what to do when the two defenders drop back into area for short balls from goalkeeper, put sufficient pressure on them to stop them going anywhere and goalkeeper then tries a flighted ball to a winger, half way inside his own half which inevitably goes out for a throw in. Centre forwards must be ****ing frustrated by the lack of balls coming their way for them to win.

if the decisions by refs are to be consistent
then ManU should have had a pen

ManU player has shot and hits southampton players outreached arm 3 yards away
inside the box - no pen given

**** OFF CHEATING BASTARDS

Thought you guys were bit unlucky. The pen was stupidly harsh. Big difference between having your arm out like a starfish to make yourself bigger. And having your arm out to remain balanced while your standing on one leg with your other leg right next to that arm!

Offside was what it was. Still feel they need to go further and say if part of you is level with the defender then you’re onside rather than any part ahead then you’re off. Still not giving advantage to the forward and level is still offside in most cases with the thicker lines. Back in the day, 90% of these just offsides were called level and on. I’m not sure how being an inch ahead gives you a huge advantage. If anything it’s good forward play to time your run perfectly. But it’s same for everyone so can’t moan too much.

Haven’t seen much talked about it, but that Wilson miss early on was a poor one. Put that in and could be very different game but seems to have gone under the radar. 1v1 all the time in the world, should have been a banker.

Incredible scenario

here VAR uses the Leeds players knee to rule where he was standing but
who here stands like this ??? with their body at right angles to their knee ???
the line is drawn on Fernandes' foot whereas the Leeds player is given by the knee 2 foot up
mind blowing how they can manipulate a photo to suit themselves
looking at this photo and being in perspective I reckon Fernandes was offside by at least 6 inches

and here we have Callum Wilson with an extraordinary long foot

To me, both are onside. Neither are gaining an advantage.

In my opinion, if you need to draw a line to see if someone is offside, then they are onside as they are level with the defender.

You say about Wilson long foot. Check out one for last season against us where they drew the defensive line from the shadow of firmino a foot, rather than his actual foot <laugh>

As I said, it’s so close that I’d give it inside anyway but just shows how despite them saying offside is a matter of fact, it’s still somewhat subjective depending on where lines are drawn.
