Toon cool Debuchy interest

Debuchy: May not join Magpies

Newcastle's interest in Mathieu Debuchy is believed to be on the wane, although the wantaway defender may still get his wish to leave Lille.

Debuchy, who is able to play at right-back or in midfield, has vehemently voiced his desire to part ways with Les Dogues for a move to Tyneside, or even join up with Inter Milan.

However, the Ligue 1 outfit have repeatedly made their conditions clear that they won't part with the versatile player to their own detriment.

According to Sky Sports, the Magpies have grown weary of Lille's lackadaisical approach to finding a replacement for Debuchy in order to free him up for a deal.

Toon boss Alan Pardew is reportedly already begun looking elsewhere, despite the French club having shown signs that they've woken up in the transfer market.

Rudi Garcia's side are said to be on the verge of agreeing a deal with newly-promoted Troyes for 19-year-old full-back Djibril Sidibe.

what are your thoughts if this doesnt come off?

It wont come off it's been going for too long! we throw in bids and hope they are accepted below the asking price.

this is sorta like ben arfa when he came, the player wants to leave, so he skips training to try and force through a transfer, we signed ben arfa for a nominal fee, Ashley is trying his luck again and lille just are not budging and tbh i dont blame them i would hold out for more than the 4 million offered hes clearly a very good player.

This window seems very slow.

Bad if we miss out on Debuchy, but I think it's right that we don't break the transfer policy to land him. We have to accept that we may not get this type of 'well known' established international that easily and will be priced out of some deals. We need to stick to scouting wider to find the right deals. The problem is, foreign clubs are becoming wise to Carr's reputation and will demand more, or make it public so that other clubs come sniffing to compete on price.

We do clearly need some cover in defence - probably more centre back and then at least one more striker and / or attacking wide player.

Only another 6 days of Ba's 'special offer' to worry about. Hopefully no takers there. Otherwise, we're in desperate need of strikers.

Starting to get concerned just hope we've got a plan B and can act quickly as we can't rely on Simpson to play there this year.
