That'd be a really sour start to his career here - need to know more about the alleged breaches though - it could be minimal, Toney-esque or even worse.

Toney was just betting on results etc but if they're proven to have altered games, deliberate bookings etc that could be a long ban...

I just can't understand why any footballers would bother betting on football. Especially any football match that you could remotely have any connection to. If you really are struggling to find a way to spend all your money there are so many other sports you could bet on.

Question is what jurisdiction does this come under?

It has to be the FA that ban him from Premier League and domestic cups? And he's done nowt wrong in this country.

It’s the Italian FA who then ask FIFA to extend it internationally, like the Spurs Football Director.
 
To me these players have gambling addictions and should have to attend gamblers anonymous when caught. Its not like he's desperate to try and win money for food or drugs. If they don't attend then ban them.

Match fixing is another thing altogether though, instant ban.
