It's official: the club have announced that we've signed Cairney. The fee is undisclosed (natch) and the contract is until the summer of 2019, with a one year extension option on the club's part.

You know that it's official when you get an update through the app...

Depending on fee, this seems like a good signing. When was the last time we signed a 24 year old with experience in English football?

Must confess to not knowing much about him, I know he's a midfielder but where does he play and how do people see him fitting in to formation?

That's a very decent contract - player and lengthwise. The fee is (rumoured) at £3.5m which is also quite decent.

His own preference is apparently central midfield, silky. Blackburn however have been playing him right midfield and that's where he got his goals from. In the Transfer thread we've been speculating that if Kit sticks with the Diamond that's where he'll start but then again that's where LVC should rightly be. So ..... ??

He's a good player, I'd have been happy for us to keep him at Hull.

He's left footed, in fact he hasn't got a right foot, but he's great on the ball and takes a mean free kick.

It looks like the fee was indeed £3.5m, as we had sell-on clause for 25% of any profit, we flogged him for £500k and it's being reported here that we've just got another £750k.
