Great Britain won the Olympic team eventing title for the first time in 49 years to clinch an 11th gold in Tokyo, with silver medals in the individual event and weightlifting following on Monday.

World number one Oliver Townend, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen sealed victory in the final show jumping stage before McEwen later earned a solo silver.

Emily Campbell then became the first British woman to win an Olympic weightlifting medal when she took silver in the +87kg category.

The 27-year-old finished with a total combined weight of 283kg to place behind China's Li Wenwen, who made 320kg, and win Team GB's 35th medal of the Games.

Great Britain won two golds and a silver as Giles Scott successfully defended his Finn title on a thrilling day in sailing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell won the men's 49er before Scott's triumph, while John Gimson and Anna Burnet secured silver in the mixed Nacra 17 class.

    Final medal table.
    I really enjoyed the games.
New stars coming through, some of the old guard coming to the end of their careers.
    Roll on Paris 2024.
Might even get a chance to go.

We have done really well since the Beijing games, lottery funding started 9 years before that games, so there was a lag time (as expected) but it has been really effective since then!

No golds in athletics for the first time in forever. But overall excellent games. Being in the same time zone was able to follow closely.

I agree, being in the same or similar time zone is a big help. Paris, not so much for me. Well done though Tokyo. Excellent effort given the circumstances. I'm looking forward to the Winter Olympics now and of course a World Cup next year too.
