Thought we needed a thread. I know lots of people who are not interested, but I certainly am. A few locals in with a chance of a medal️
Hadn't realised how limited the BBC's TV rights are this year, only allowed to show two live streams at a time. Really takes the fun out of it compared to previous years where you could flick between 20 sports at once.
Enjoyed seeing some new events like the skateboarding and surfing yesterday. Regardless of nationality, it seems no skateboarder can operate without AirPods in their ears.
Adam Peaty wrote his name into the history books once again as he powered to 100m breaststroke gold in Tokyo to become the first British swimmer to defend an Olympic title. The world record holder blew away the competition to win Britain's first gold medal of the Games. From start to finish it was a perfectly executed swim by Peaty as he finished in a time of 57.37 seconds, six tenths clear of the field.
The skateboarders must drive the likes of the triathletes and marathon runners mad. No real need for serious fitness or diet plans, then spend your event hanging around at the top of a ramp with your friends, choose a song on your phone, slip it into your pocket whilst you perform for 10 seconds, rinse and repeat and win a gold medal! Really fun to watch though! Looking forward to the climbing in a week or so, and seeing how the really odd format works.
Tom Daley finally ended his wait for an Olympic title with diving gold alongside Matty Lee, while British team-mates Adam Peaty and Tom Pidcock were also crowned champions as day three in Tokyo became 'Magic Monday' for Team GB. Good day today, couple of silvers as well

Might not be true now, but at least this morning, "The Nation of British Tom's" would have been 8th in the medal table.
Not very extensive coverage this year , usually the BBC has a red button option covering almost all the events
Yeah it's really annoying, the rules around the rights changed so the BBC only have to have some live coverage. The Discovery Channel bought the multi-channel streaming package. BBC are only allowed up to two live sports at once.
The Philippines have won their first ever Olympic gold medal. And no local I know is aware of this fact.

Bethany Shriever claimed a thrilling BMX gold and Duncan Scott extended his streak in the pool as Great Britain won six Olympic medals on Friday with potentially more to come. A silver for Kye Whyte in the BMX men's race was Britain's first in the event at an Olympic Games, and a first gold quickly followed through Shriever in the women's race. Scott claimed his third medal in Tokyo with silver in the men's 200m individual medley, while Luke Greenbank took 200m backstroke bronze. The men's eight won a rowing bronze and Bryony Page added another in the women's trampolining on day seven. GB finished the Games with two rowing medals, their lowest rowing medal tally at an Olympics since they won two at Atlanta 1996 and the first time they have not won at least one gold since 1980. Friday brought the start of the athletics in Tokyo, with Dina Asher-Smith qualifying second in her opening 100m heat.
Max Whitlock retained his Olympic pommel horse title and Charlotte Worthington won a thrilling women's BMX park freestyle final to take Great Britain's gold medal tally to 10 in Tokyo on Sunday. Team GB also made history in the pool, clinching the men's 4x100m medley relay silver for their eighth swimming medal of the Games. Duncan Scott was part of a quartet including Adam Peaty, Luke Greenbank and James Guy who were pipped to the title by the USA. The 24-year-old, who signs off with a gold and three silvers, has now won more medals at a single Olympics than any other British competitor. In a dramatic BMX final, Worthington fell on her first run but landed a ground-breaking 360-degree backflip on her second to score 97.50. Another good day for GB
