Newcastle winning. Let's face it - if any of Norwich, Burnley or Watford had been given £100m to spend in the January transfer window, they would have survived as well.
KURT Zouma WILL start for West Ham today despite mounting fury over his cat kicking shame. No surprises there then
Burnley are much better than us at keeping the score down in games against teams in the top half. The problem for them is they have only won one game all season as a consequence of being so unadventurous. After this weekend's scores, it's looking very likely that the current bottom three remain the bottom three unless Brentford's bad run continues.
I watched the first half of Burnley v Liverpool and Liverpool were not the force I expected, making defensive mistakes and vulnerable to counter-attacks. Salah and Mane looked a bit jaded, perhaps from the crowded schedule of AFCON cup. Watched the second half of Newcastle v Villa match and though Newcastle got the points via a free kick deflected off Buendia's knee, that was their only shot on target. Villa were even worse, also only having one shot on target but looking very flat.
Another grasp of straws: Liverpool travel to Italy to play Inter Milan on Wednesday night before coming back to play us on Saturday.
Terrible results for us today, with Watford and Burnley both winning. Why are Villa so crap against everyone else? The only good thing about today is it cranks up the pressure on Brentford and Everton, and possibly Leeds. We could yet have a situation where lots of teams are dragged into this fight. But we MUST beat Brentford.
Leeds were trailing 0-2 at home to ManUtd until they scored twice in 2 minutes to level it at 2-2. EDIT: Finished 2-4 to United, so Leeds are still within reach.
