Like you, like everyone else we all live in hope, once you take hope away you have nothing and it wasn't my place to do that.

So I had to be careful and timely in what I said, bearing in mind I was sitting on that information since February and Tobes was posting up until 9th April. I had no way of knowing if that would be his last post ever, all I could do was advice ppl of something due to his absence one month later, my mind was like omg if Everton go down...well you know - although fate took a twist for the good, regarding his football team fourteen days later.

So as per his instructions to me, tell everyone when he's gone, even though I still don't know if that's the case but it's been nigh on two months now, so...

If he has passed then he’ll never be forgotten around these parts, he was a good guy who had an appetite for banter on here of any kind and knew where to draw the line. Never afraid to call out bullshit and always packed a funny punch with his words.

Rest easy Tobes, wherever you are.

That was a really tough read.

When Brb posted the OP I was hoping for somewhat of a miracle because you do hear of them at times and that we’d see Tobes pop up at some point letting us know things were going well but this second post was just brutal to take in.

I can only echo what’s already been said by others and hope that if Tobes is still around he’s as comfortable as possible with his family surrounding him, if he’s gone then condolences to his family and rest easy mate, been a pleasure knowing you on here x

I think that's what we all hoped. That despite the prognosis, he'd find a way to battle through and would pop up on here again at some point.

I hope he's found peace and that his family are coping as best as possible. It's strange that none of us knew him or had any contact in the real world, so we can't pass on any messages to his family, we can only speak about him amongst ourselves.

A not606 soldier. One of the big personalities on here.

    Just caught up with this

Very sad for his family and puts any disagreements about football and politics etc into real perspective

Will be missed and the only consolation is him not suffering any more

Being an elite forum member he should get his own sticky thread like Burly has. I would say he would find great amusement in the Bets 4 Bantz thread being named in his honour.

i think Tobes did that himself on here, could argue like **** with you on one thread and call you all the names you could think of but on other threads could agree with you/back you up and laugh and joke with you.
In many ways he epitomised the people on this board, came on for lively or friendly discussion about many different subjects.
We are all very similar in some ways and Tobes is a good example of that.

I had massive rows with him over Watford and Everton but agreed on most other things apart from some political items

I had a bike ride out into the countryside to one of his old pubs he went to when he lived in Hull .Pity I won't get the chance to show him a video of the changes there .
Really sad news I don't really remember having a run in with him he's always been a bloody decent bloke for me

Had my run ins with him... but then again I'm an ornery **** and can have them with most peeps <laugh> ... but always respected him, sometimes grudgingly admittedly, but admired the fact that he would stand his ground and back his opinions ... and would happily have met up with him for a jar or two (as I would with most posters) ... just wish him all the best and feel for his friends and family ... lived with the knowledge of my beloved younger (by 23 days) cousin's diagnosis of terminal esophageal cancer for 12 months and it is truly heartbreaking ... that was 3 years ago now but I still can't believe she is gone... life really ****ing sucks at times ...

    So so sad .

He was someone I confided in about personal things , and his advice was very sensible etc .

To know what he was going through at that time …

Well I guess it’s just a measure of the man .

You may be gone Tobes , but I will never forget you :(

Thanks fella….. results from biopsy are I have intermediate cancer of the prostate with Gleason score of seven… bone scan clear, so not spread, treatment wise , I’m hoping for cryotherapy or high intensity ultrasound as they are less invasive but more focal… my last resort is removal !
