Does he not play in the same position as Fer? If so, I presume it means Fer is going. Fer should be playing in the Premiership. Pity we didn't make the most of him by not playing him in his rightful position. Price we had to pay for Charlie not being able to play up top on his own.
Sorry, they have cut the last minute out where you see him stretchered off holding his ankle in complete agony followed by a very concerned looking Ramsey... Only kidding
LEROY FER: TJARONN CHERY IS A BIG SIGNING FOR QPR www.qpr.co.uk, Holland international Fer said: “This is a very big signing for the club. please log in to view this image SEALING THE DEAL: Chery signed a three-year deal with QPR on Monday “Chery can add a lot of flair and nice football to the team. We as players, as well as the fans, are going to love him. “The supporters are really going to like him. He has got great skills but he also works hard and I think he is going to have a big influence on the team.” After hitting 15 goals last season for FC Groningen and breaking into the Holland national squad, the arrival of Chery at QPR may have been unexpected for some, but not Fer. “I spoke with him about QPR, and told him how big the club is,” Fer said. “It might have surprised others because he is a good player who can play in the Premier League – we all know that – but he chose to come here to build his career. “This is a great club with great fans, and I know this had a big impact on why he chose to come here. I think me being able to speak with him about QPR helped him with that decision.” please log in to view this image A GREAT ADDITION: Fer believes Chery can have a big influence on Chris Ramsey's team Chery’s development over the last couple of years has been quite remarkable, and Fer feels the 27 year-old is now approaching the best form of his career. “He came through at FC Twente – and they have a great academy there – so he has always been a player of potential,” Fer explained. “For him, it just took him a little bit longer but last season he won the KNVB Cup with FC Groningen, and was picked by the national team coach. So he is a player with a lot of ability, who just grew a little bit later, but right now he is at his peak.” Having never played outside of Holland, handling the physicality of English football will be one of the challenges Chery will need to overcome – and Fer has backed his countryman to do so. “He is a small player but he has a lot of ability and is a very smart footballer,” he added. “He is clever enough to get away from the real physicality of English football but he knows he needs to work on his physique “He was already in the gym today on his first day at training, so that is positive. He just needs to get involved in the Chief’s (Nedum Onuoha’s) gym-club at Harlington – that will make him a lot stronger!” Chery has shown during his career that he possesses a mean left-footed strike. And with Fer having a right-footed shot with serious venom too, which Dutchman has the hardest shot at Harlington? “That would probably be me!” laughs Fer, “but his free-kicks and his technique are different class! So I have the more powerful shot, but he probably has the better technique!” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/h...nternational-2561496.aspx#IW9p2BijgB0dbCOA.99
Nice stuff from Fer. He seems happy. I'm sure we will sell him for the right money and I'd be surprised if no one is interested. Always thought there is a very good player in there trying to get out - great shot, good header, nice movement when he plays in the middle, but inconsistent and a bit soft. Up for 46 Championship games? I hope so, a consistent Fer could be gold dust there.
It was a bit more than the usual one sentence 'he's a good lad' bull crap Swordsie, seems genuinely pleased to have the bloke around. I am a little confused as to why Chery came to us as a 27 year old with the level above on offer, but if he's as good as the hype, who cares? Wonder if the Dutch international manager has told him and Fer that playing in the Championship will not harm their chances for caps.
It would strike me as a bit odd if Fer scarpers after this. He's obviously had a huge influence in getting Chery to sign for us. I doubt that he would say “I spoke with him about QPR, and told him how big the club is,” but I'm going to be off anyway. Maybe something of a feelgood factor is happening with the new Ranger's down W12 way.
It's looking quite good except that we can't organise a pre season tour and still have the ****test back 5 in last season's PL. Just thought I'd bring us back down to earth.
Thank the lord! Does anyone else ****e their pants when you get an 'alert' stating that sb_73 has quoted one of your post's? It's like when the missus says 'I've got a bone to pick with you.' and everything that you've ever done flashes through your mind in a nano second, only to find ( with great relief) that it's about something totally innocuous. Well Stan, it's hard to refute what you're saying but the only defence I can offer you about our defence is this ... The pre-season tour in 2010 wasn't that great ( down to Devon?) and the defence we fielded that season was also the same defence that struggled and nearly got us relegated back to Lge 1. We also had a new manager take charge in the new year. The next season he kept the same defence (nearly) and we went on to keep 25 or 26 clean sheets en-route to being champions. I'm by no means advocating that that's going to happen this season but it may just well be that CR & SLF have seen enough quality in that dept to get the job done. Of course one or two additions won't go amiss but I think CR realises that with better protection the defence will play with more confidence. Yeah I know, I'm struggling to make a case here.
Surely any squad needs more than 1 player to fill that sort of role. We need the likes of Fer, our new Sharon Cherry, plus about 2 more. We not even going to stay in the Championship without a bit about us in our attacking midfield and maybe you have noticed that these wonder blokes seem to miss a few with injuries or three.
What i've seen from youtube he appears to be a great signing, but can he cope with hard tackling championship defenders/midfielders is a another thing. Intresting thing is how Fer have been excited about Cherys signing. Is that because now he could leave more easily......?
The system which Ramsey will play with should be interesting. On the one hand we've got a lot of flexibility with the players at our disposal and the quantity of midfielders but I've always thought teams who field consistent 11's when possible usually get the job done in the Championship. Competition for places can only be a good thing for Ramsey
I'm beginning to get a tad excited about this season, the squad is taking shape nicely, I've a feeling that Fer will stay (no reason for saying that) and that will give us further attacking options. Also I seem to recall that Fer started out as a defensive midfielder so he could be used in that holding role as well. I'm sure the feeling of optimism will disappear around 5pm on 8th August but for the moment there's a feelgood factor emerging and the Chery signing is a sign of intent...... Now where are those defenders?
Question for you learned gents and lady. Having watched the 5 goal that Chery has scored, it is hard not to get excited at the prospect of seeing him play in The Hoops. Is it possible to compile a 5 goal showpiece for a player whose actually not all that great? At one end of the spectrum, for example, SWP's compilation would be 1 goal, 1 disallowed goal that should have stood, hitting the woodwork a few time and a lot of running around - ok standing around. On the other hand, some one like One Size, did put a few away and a compilation might make him look better than he actually was. So there is the question. Chery - the real deal or clever marketing? I know we are all desperately hoping for the former - COYRss!!
I don't know what he is because its easy to put compilations together and make a player look good. All they have to do is cut away the other 99% of footage when he's sh*t. COLIN once said any highlight DVD's he received of players went straight in the bin. Only if he was given a full match would he watch a player.
