This is exactly what i mean about judging players on reputation and history than on actual performance. We fell in this trap a few years ago and are now only just pulling out of it.

Agree with the sentiment. Attitude is by far the most important element in football. However it is so often overlooked because you can't use statistics to show it.

Tbh however poorly our players are playing right now (and actually they weren't that bad today but unlucky again as seems to be standard) I would rather have the likes of a Gary Hooper or a Jerome than a Daryl Murphy simply because when these guys play at their best they are a class above anybody Ipswich have on their team.

That is all very hypothetical. Yes Hoops can score at this level, but a few years ago.. he hasn't for you guys yet. Is he even interested, does Neyul think hell fit in to the team... and will he be gone in January?

Some times players just don't fit with clubs at certain periods.. I remember myself making such statements about Grant Holt when we had Priskin and the Chopra and neither of their reputations and price tags did them any good

Re the Lafferty for Jerome substitution, I actually didn't think it was a particularly bad call. Jerome was poor yesterday. His touch was off and he didn't hold the ball up.

The problem I had was that throughout the second half you could see the game changing and swinging in Forest's favour. Pearce made all his subs before 65 mins trying to influence the game. It was all Forest, and I'm sitting there, much like Hughton last season, begging our manager to do something to get us back into it.

On the very rare occasions we took the lead under Hughton, we became nervous on the ball and our passing game fell to pieces. That's exactly what happened yesterday. We couldn't string two passes together for most of the second half against a team on a terrible run.

Forest subbed off a defender and were playing three at the back toward the end of the game with us still leading 1-0. That would have been the perfect time for us to deploy Nathan Redmond or Neymurph to get that second goal and kill the game. We could have used our pacey wide players to exploit their three man defence on the counter and won the game had we made a different substitution, but instead we brought on Lafferty, another striker who was barely involved and continued to play with no width. Ultimately by the end of the game having been leading 1-0 it was us who were undone on the counter attack. Unbelievable, could have so easily and should have been different.

I don't understand, you think its down to humility or the substitutions we lost.

Humility would have been bolstering the defence or midfield, not bringing on the so called luxury players.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sick of hearing Adams say in pre-match interviews that 'it's about what we do'. How arrogant is that?! I'm sorry, we're not Barcelona, who are going to blow teams off the pitch with their passing, movement and finishing.
In Football you have to identify and respect the threat your opponent poses and work hard to nullify it. That's as important as 'what you do' (and we all know he means going forward when he says that)
. At first, in the Post-Hughton days, it was refreshing to hear him bigging us up, as we were so used to Hughton under-selling our players. But, it's starting to wear thin now, I'm afraid.

He is a fine central defender and has been the best performer on the pitch for all of this and last season but he is being played in a way where he is left with no midfield protection or any full backs to cover him so there is nothing he can do!

Cuellar also played well for 85 mins I thought, and the problem of pace wasn't so obvious without Whittaker. Tettey and Johnson should provide cover for the defence and Tettey did well for most of the game but switched off at the crucial moment. For Forest's winner both CBs were in the box and it was the poor delivery which cost us.

Was it just me who thought Jerome coming off was a pivotal moment? Jerome made a number of important defensive interventions, and shortly after he was subbed off (although he did seem a bit off the pace) we concede two.

I feel that bringing on another striker in Lafferty was the worst possible substitution we could have made when: 1) His scoring record didn't warrant an appearance 2) We could have brought on a more defensive player (although many of them were already on the pitch) to preserve our lead 3) We could (should) have brought on a winger to exploit gaps in the tiring Forest defence who were chasing the game and won 2-0

we play like a bunch of individuals because the manager hasn't got the nous or ability to mould them into a team. warky is absolutely correct in what he says about that. we will win games at this level (as we already have) because sometimes our individuals come up with the goods but it won't be enough to trouble the top six. they are not organised, he changes system too often, he picks players out of position and we constantly start games sluggishly, handing out opponents the initiative. our early season comebacks weren't down to him imo, they were down to individuals producing a bit of magic. he needs to go.

We just need a bit of that luck we had at the start of the season, a bit of the rub of the green and get some confidence back into the lads and I still think we can win this league.

I personally don't think that's the case, and I also don't think we're far off. This is a steep learning curve for Adams and if he learns quickly then this season is far from a write-off. We just need a bit of that luck we had at the start of the season, a bit of the rub of the green and get some confidence back into the lads and I still think we can win this league.

That would indeed be nice, yes. If Neeyul had been persevering with the same back four each week, and if it was the same player making mistakes every week costing us goals and if Neeyul continued to play that player in the same defensive line-up despite these continual mistakes then I'd agree he'd have some serious questions to answer. However he has mixed it up at the back, tried different CB partnerships and altered our full-backs yet still the sloppy mistakes keep occurring, by different players who really should be better than that.

Difficult to say just how much of that is the manager's fault in my opinion, it's certainly not as black and white as some are making out.

Adam's is a lucky manager, even when we started winning games when interviewed after the game he always seems startled and shocked that we won, there is something about him which I genuinely find unconvincing. I can't see the board getting rid of Adam's I don't even think they have a Plan B, it was a poor idea to start with, the board went for the cheapskate option this was to be expected, we've always questioned the lack of ambition at the club with that appointment and that question has already been answered.
