I'm not talking about in restaurants here because I'm comfortable with my tipping protocol whilst dining out.

What's been playing on my mind is should you tip delivery drivers who have turned out in the pissing rain to bring you your Chicken tikka madras etc.

I had one delivered on Friday night and it came to £16.90 with sundries and starter etc.

I gave the lass £20 and told her to keep the change and now I feel depressed about it. It wasn't even raining.

I think it was a quid too much, maybe two quid, it was a £3.90 tip FFS. Nearly 25%.

What's the general consensus on here?

I fear I have made a fool of myself but I had sunk a few bottles of the 8% lager I brought back from France and was well on my way to being Franz Klammered.

And before anyone asks no she wasn't( the delivery lass)and no you wouldn't. If she had been I'd be more than content with my actions but I can't even use that has a reason as to why I did it.

Chewy, goodie wrappers and the ashtray any council estate. Larger items and black bags usually quick tour round any industrial estate at night. Done. Oh.

£16.90. Give her a Bobby Moore and say just give us 3 quid back darl
 
I regularly use a private taxi company when on a night out, have used the same one for years. It was only the last time the driver said they get most their cash from tips, until then I'd never left a taxi driver a tip.

I still didn't give him a tip.

A tip...be good to your mother. But usually round up to the nearest £10 if above half way
 
Well thats weird, I only have Domino's pizzas' delivered, which is handy because my apostrophe use is awesome.

Anyhoo. I'm either spending 20 to 30 quid on the pizzas plus sides, and the delivery person always seems to pause, like they're expecting something. So they get a cheery "Thanks!" and the door slammed in their face.

I've wondered if there's some reason I should tip them. I've already donated a penny to charity when I pay ffs, they round up and donate to some charity, but obviously I don't wanna talk about that or bang on about it like some.

We're not the USA. We have a minimum wage. They can't possibly be living off their earnings from delivering pizza.

So why should I tip them?

In a restaurant, yes, I add on 20% usually, ONLY if I've enjoyed the meal and the service was good. If either weren't, they get nowt. Reward good stuff, don't reward bad stuff.

Still don't get why I should pay yet more money out for what is meant to be free delivery.

I read this thread and just ordered a chicken tikka dhansak, keema rice and a plain naan,

It'll be here in 20 minutes and costs £9.00 - I'll give them a tenner.

Oi that's a bit harsh. I know how to tip for decent service when eating out. I had 23 years in the mob to hone that skill, while you were sleeping under the stars, I was checking in to them.

I just don't see why I should pay the delivery person extra for basically doing his job.

Wait.

I see how that looks.

What I mean is, if it's normal or something, and you SHOULD pay them, I'm happy to do that, I just wanna know why, and "well because" isn't a reason.

I'm cooking a Mexican but her indoors has just rang and said her car won't start.

She's stuck in South Hunsley car par after taking Junior Junior swimming.

I've had s few glasses of Madiran, which is my new favourite wine, and can do **** all about it.

Ah well......

If I spent £5.50 on a takeaway and had it delivered I'd expect a punch in the face when they handed me the goods n all. No margin in it

I said ring your breakdown agent then.

I then had to find her car wallet type thing with all her documents in and dig out the number because she didn't know who or what number to ring.

You'd struggle to make it up.


Oh and so much for German engineering.
