This may be stating the obvious but goal kicks are the easiest opportunity for time wasting.
It is the time in the game when the referee is furthest from the ball and hardest for him to speak to the offending player.
However, reducing this is in our own hands..get attempts on goal on target.Something we didn't do much of on Saturday
On target shots and headers result in one of three things.

A save .Ball in hands of goal keeper ..who has to get rid in some mythical timeframe.
A tip over the bar or round the post. Our corner = no time wasting.
A goal .A kick off in the centrespot..no goalie involvement.Time will be added on as a matter of course for celebrations.

Simple.

HOWEVER.
We probably waste as much time as our opposition in trying to take throw ins.I don't understand why we appeal for throw ins and get upset when they go the other way.We are appalling at them.
We never have any movement from midfield to look for the ball and any down the line normally result in loss of possession as our little guys are bundled off thed ball by hulks of defenders all visiting teams seem to have this season. The only time we retain the ball is when the throw goes back to the keeper for a kick to a congested midfield where any counter attack threat has been nullified,
What I can not get my head around is that this has been a problem for a number of years under all managers and all squad members .

Is there such a think in football as a throw in coach?Might contemplate a career change.

The correct punishment. In fact in the pre-game managers and capts briefing from the Ref. he should say that the first time a GK time wastes he gets booked. The 2nd time he is off. That would cut it out, well at least from goal kicks that is. imo,

Think our ballboys should be sent to the stands instead for being utterly useless

Every team is guilty of time wasting, its part of the game

Correct but that is not the issue here.

What is then?

So every team time wasting is the issue??

See, I completely agree about the throw ins, why on earth are we so poor at them. None of the players move well enough to try and win the ball. Dudgeon (obviously not now) is supposed to have a long throw, but I've never seen him take one ever, it's always short.

As for time wasting, it is frustrating but players don't seem to realize that while the ball is dead, the ref adds the time on at the end. I think it's 30 seconds for every substitution, whatever is appropriate for injury and so on. That's why I never understand why players feign injury. If they go down like they've had an axe in the back, then roll around, cause the physio needlessly to jog on and waste everybody's time (including those of us who paid money to watch the game), then get up completely fine and carry on playing; should be booked there and then (and have the time added on).

Finally, why can't we have a multi-ball system at the KC? Why do we have to wait for the same ball to be fished out of the crowd or from behind the dugout? If this was brought in, then as soon as a ball went out of play we could carry on without losing the momentum of the attack. It would also cut down on time wasting.

I think only the PL keep the multi ball system but the FL should keep there grubby noses out of stuff like that. It should be left to each home club what system they want to use.

What annoys me more is that from goal kicks we all get naffed off when the GK delays taking it yet when the ball is in the hands of the GK we accept by and large that he can take as long as he wants to. I think a 15 sec max limit should be used for both situations. Then an in-direct free kick if time is over. imo

What annoys me is that City fans moan about opposition goalkeepers taking their time when their team is defending a lead! What on earth do you expect?
