It's you that needs to think. Of course Kroenke is making loads of money. Just look at the share price since he took over the club. He's also the majority shareholder and what he says goes. He answers to no one.

He is the major shareholder. He hasn't shown anything which indicates that he is interested in anything other than what most other shareholders in this world are interested in...ie yield and a capital gain. Any excess capital over and beyond Arsenal's debt is shareholder equity and if this isnt spent on the club it will ultimately end up in their hands...you don't have to teach me company law you pillock. He is in it for the money.

This thread is very sad. I don't come on here that often but when I do I tend to see the same people propelling their views like they are the be all and end all. Every single Arsenal fan has the right to support the team in the way they want. To have someone claim that anyone who thinks Wenger has done well as a manager over the last 7 years is a brainless **** who doesn't know how to support their team or likes to lose is so unbelievably dumb it defies common sense. For some people Arsenal is their life which is why they feel the need to propel their views as if they are the most important on the planet, for others Arsenal is a team they support through thick and thin. They don't like to lose but understand that football in the current climate especially in the prem is a hard place to walk away with a major trophy. What have Arsenal needed more than anything over the last seven years!? Trophies? yes that would have been nice. Sustainable income and playing in Europes premier competition each year has been just as valuable as winning 1 or 2 trophies in the last 7 years. It doesn't mean that's what I wanted but that's what I'll accept for now. Next season I expect Wenger to have a different attitude to the way he approaches major competitions and it will begin in the transfer market. Does this hope make me a deluded fake Wenger loving fan. I guess it does on this forum but to the Arsenal fans outside of not606 I'm sure they share the same hope without thinking I should just lay down and die because I trust Wenger to steer us back to the title winning side i know We can be.

Praying that Arsene does something different next year is fine - we all do - but the evidence of the last few years suggests he will not. The way to get him to change is to make sure as fans we let the club know that no trophies and 3rd/4th place is not acceptable.

The deprivation of success at Arsenal recently has been getting to the fans' heads.

It's not necessarily as good as winning some trophies, but at least we're constantly in the hunt for trophies rather than having boom or bust seasons like Chelsea and Liverpool. Obviously it would be nice for us to win something next season, but I can't honestly say I'd be delighted if we won an FA Cup or Carling Cup but didn't finish in the top 4 come the end of the season and I don't reckon you lot would be either.

I love AFC and I want us to do better than we have done for the last 7 years. We are a top 4 team which is something everyone apart from the other regular top 3 teams would give their right arm to be. In stating that I am pleased to be a top 4 team does not mean I am happy to settle for just that (as some would claim about me and others of a similar view). It does not mean that I am happy to settle for top 4 without trophies. It does not mean that I think we have an excellent squad and faultless management team either. It means what it means, that we are a top 4 team and that that is quite an achievement in itself. No more, no less.

I do not claim to know who is to blame as some here do, but whoever or whatever is the cause for our just falling short time and time again, please sort it out. If the main culprit is lady luck, someone shoot the bitch!

Well said As much as some people want to paint a picture of fans settling for 2nd best, that isn't the case. Despite the claims, I've never read one post that says 'everything is fine' or that 'we're doing brilliantly' - that is pure bunkum, fabricated to try and polarise the argument as you correctly point out COYG.

Here's a suggestion to those talking about FA Cup / League Cup wins vs top 4. How about we expect one of those trophies AND top 4 as a bare minimum for success?

It IS better to be top 4 than win the FA Cup, but that doesnt mean we have to be satisifed with top 4.

There are far too many that have bought into the excuses and now we find ourselves comparing our failure with what could be worse .

In the seven years we haven't won a trophy, Chelsea have won 3 Premier Leagues, 4 FA Cups, 1 League Cup and a Champions League.

Liverpool have won an FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League.

Liverpool are in the situation they are in now because Hicks & Gillette screwed them financially - they were on the brink of administration, so it's understandable that they have had a dip in form and that they've been mediocre for the last few seasons. This coupled with poor management, too. I'm sure they won't be as poor as they were last season - it's a rebuilding process after the diabolical state H&G left them in.

This is the first time we have finished above Chelsea in 8 years - which was when we last won the league. Chelsea have not been ''boom or bust'' as you so eloquently put it. They have been better than us by finishing ahead of us and winning trophies. They appointed a 34 year old manager who had very little experience and struggled to adapt to the rigors of the English Premier League. It was a naive appointment by Abramovich and I had predicted they wouldn't prosper under him due to his lack of expertise. However, di Matteo helping the club win 2 trophies when they were staring into the abyss three months ago compensates for their poor league finish.

Why does the situation have to be EITHER finishing in the top four or winning silverware? Why can't we do both? We have the squad to do it.

If Chelsea's bunch of old timers can win a European trophy, then that just proves to me that the players we have are not mentally strong enough. I think they have strong characteristics as footballers, but not cognitively. They don't have the right mindset for it and Wenger has struggled to instill it into his players.

I don't really think you can blame finance for Liverpool's dip in form as they've still spent heavily on players in the past few seasons (just look at this year). I'm not so sure they will be that much stronger this year as their squad is very mediocre and would require even more money to even get it near the standard we're at at the moment. So in that sense, I'd much rather be a consistent, sustainable team in the top 4 every season than go through utter **** spells that they're now being subjected to.

Chelsea have got very lucky this season with their two trophies with the squad they've had (which has been shown up in the league, hence the 6th place finish). If they hadn't won the Champions League, they would have a complete bust of a season.

The situation doesn't have to be either top 4 or trophies, but I've seen some stuff on here from some fans that claim they would rather win the FA Cup or Carling Cup than finish top 4, which is completely ludicrous. It's obviously disappointing we haven't been able to couple both together, but I'm sure we will soon enough- we just need a little luck to go our way in some cup competitions like it has done with Chelsea this year. The mentality part you mention is hard to argue with really as our players do seem to lose their heads in cup competitions, but unfortunately such an ability to deal with pressure is pretty hard to teach and comes with maturity.

I'm just a bit annoyed at some posters on here who seem pretty insatiable when it comes to the achievements of this club. I'm pretty confident that people on here would still find something to moan about if we won a trophy and finished top 4 next season to be honest.

There are differences in what fans see as success - and those expectations have been lowered consistently over the last 8 years. I defy anyone to claim their definition of success after 2003-4 was to just be in the top 4 for the next 8 seasons.

I am not prepared to lower my expectations for the club. Others of course are welcome to, but I wil view them as settling for failure.
