Kelvin or Bart?

I think that Davis hasnt done anything to deserve getting dropped and that hes has been a loyal and faithful servant to the club for many a year. That being said, he is on his way out now surely, and Bialkowski (?) should start being fased in as he is the replacement for him. However, is he good enough for the prem, as that is where we will be in a couple of years :D
 
If there was reason to drop Davis then I'd be all for giving Bart a chance, but nothing against him, Davis is a much safer bet. He's been fine for seasons in a row, a great servant to the club who has shown no signs of needing to be taken out of the team. Once SKD becomes not good enough, then it's Bialkowski's time. For now, Davis it is.
 
Davis' distribution has been awful for a while now, Bart made some good stops today and was always looking to release the ball quickly. He did his chances no harm what so ever.
 
both keepers are equal as far as im concerned i think kelvin will start the year but bart will take over around christmas. if we dont gel him in i have a feeling he will move on and then we will be f***** with nobody in goal for the prem next year as loyalty doesnt last forever if your not getting picked

Agree KD has poor distribution and I'm sure they work on that.

My only concern is that Bart may leave if not playing many games and that would be a shame. He was fabulous in our run to play offs last time in the championship.
 
Iam a great fan of Kelvin he has shown great commitment to this club with his loyalty and superb perfomances over the years. Given the amount of games he has played for us his mistakes are few contrary to what some would chose to believe .He seems very well liked by team mates and especially Bart who knows he is number two to a great keeper. To all those who knock him i tell you now if we stuck him up for sale there would be interest from many clubs keepers of his experiance and skill are hard to find That said Bart is a very good keeper and has and will benifit from working with a dedicated pro

Still think majority of the reasons people are saying pick Bart are lame.

Davis has just had his best season, probably in his career. Most clean sheets, no injuries, club captain and I can only recall ONE major mistake that cost us a goal in the whole season (but we won the game anyway).

If his form drops, it's Adkins decision to drop Davis in favour of Bart. I'd stand by that decision if it happened, because Adkins will be doing it based upon Football decisions, not some of the soppy stuff written on Page 1. Bart's a good keeper, but Davis is the clear Number 1 choice for that position. I can't think of any logical reason to dispute that.

I'm all for debate, but it's up to people to defend/strengthen their argument or pick holes in my points.
 
Am I right in thinking Bart's and Davis' contracts are up at the end of the season? If so, it's a big season for both of them. Start with Davis without a doubt. Every keeper makes the odd error but Davis has made some outstanding saves at times.
 
Kelvin probably edges it on experience. As has been muted elsewhere Kelvin's distribution leaves a lot to be desired at times. On goal keeping ability I would have to say they are about equal.
 
Goal keeping ability they are both brilliant but davis has the experience and as goddess said, they get better with age!
 
Absolutely no reason to drop Davis. He was the best keeper in League one, and will be one of the best in the Championship. Having a keeper of Bialkowski's calibre keeps Kelvin on his toes. It's only going to take a couple of poor games for NA to give Bart his chance.

And if everyone agreed with everyone else's opinion, debate would be pointless and this forum wouldn't exist. People are going to disagree with your opinion. Get used to it.

The reasons given have been perfectly logical. We haven't seen much of him, but Bart appears to be an excellent keeper. It's not that Davis had a poor season, because clearly he had a very good one, but it might be that Bart has improved to the point where he is the most skilled goalkeeper.

If we had, say, Rooney and Tevez in our squad, Lambert would have to be dropped to the bench. It's not that he's done anything wrong, it's just that we would know he is clearly third best. A player's form declining is not the only reason for him to be dropped from the team; it can be simply that someone else has improved to the point where he is good enough to be picked.

For the record, I actually would rather Davis start against Leeds.
 
We're so lucky to have the luxury of two quality keepers. I would pick Kelvin over Bart because he has a wealth of experience and has good leadership qualities. In terms of quality, I think they are fairly matched, however, I have seen Bart pull of some absolutely outstanding saves and I think at times he demonstrates more agility and quicker reactions than Kelvin.

That's very different though. There's no risk factor in playing those two ahead of Lambert because they're established world class players. Bart, on the other hand, hasn't been established at all, unlike Kelvin. People are basing opinions of him off a few games four or five years ago and less than an hour of pre-season friendly. Thus it is a risk to drop a keeper who doesn't need to be dropped for the sake of just trying someone new. Cup games, yeah why not, but league games? No thanks.
