Does anyone know which period/years (roughly) Tiger Rag used to be played at BP, and which version (there are numerous recordings of it) was used?

After scanning a few threads on here many of the oldies have said it was played from around 1946 & most also believe it was the Mills Brothers version bring played.

It was replaced with Tiger by Abba. I looked the song up and it was released in 1976 on the album Arrival so I guess Tiger Rag stopped being used about then

When I left the UK in 1966 it was still being played and in '68 when I returned to Hull for 1 match and ditto when I came back for a couple of months in early 1971. Was back briefly in '74 and '78 but believe it had stopped by then.

Yep that's correct, I remember being thrilled that a track off the Abba album I owned was being played at City matches.

I always thought that it was Les Paul (one of, if not THE, greatest guitarists who ever lived) and (his wife) Mary Ford, who's version was played at the old Boothferry Park when i was a lad:

Through the later 50's and into the 60's when the teams ran out they would fire up a by then scratchy sounding Tiger Rag accompanied by the whiff of wintergreen, (if you were near the tunnel), the epitome of football memories for me.

"Tiger Rag" is one of THE original jazz tunes and, Old Fart that I am, I would love to see the club bring it back for the team to run out to. OK - it's not something you can sing along to - but I remember going into a Bristol pub in the early 80's for a jazz night & when I requested that they play "Tiger Rag" 3 or 4 other Hull City fans made themselves known & a few jars were supped! It was a tune that Hull City fans everywhere would recognise & rally round. It was "ours" in a way that no other tune has since replicated.

If you would like the team to run out to that now I would also like to see wooden rattles reintroduced and half time oranges.

What about the "magic sponge" instead of a group of medical people and stretcher bearers when ever anyone falls down for no apparent reason!
