Well, on that basis, relegations can be won and lost in September too. You start losing in September and it can set the tone for the season. Do it badly enough and you can win your last 10 games and still get relegated. Thing is, the more you win early in the season, the more room you have to wiggle with injuries, bad form and morale later on. The morale bit is because I'm watching this Churchill film at the moment. I'll get back to it.
