A bit late to help the sales at Newmarket, a colt out of Mark Dixon's mare La Marchesa has a comfortable debut win at Saint Cloud. Called Marquisat, the 2yo by Zarak, owned by Godolphin and trained by Andre Fabre was an 11/5 favourite. Must be one of Godolphin's cheaper buys.
The La Marchesa yearling colt by New Bay went very cheaply last month. Apparently, they liked this Zarak foal so much they sent La Marchesa's relation, Bari, to Zarak and were presented with a filly foal this year.

On Saturday Dreamloper bows out at the Breeder's Cup. Olivia Hoare bought her dam as a yearling from the Dixon/Mount Coote draft for 45,000gns. Her two foals to race have both won, with Dreamloper being a two times Group 1 winner.
Whatever she achieves on Saturday she then goes to the Sales at Keeneland. A shame but the owner has 2 half-sisters to Dreamloper by Fastnet Rock (unraced 2yo) and Masar (foal). The mare Livia's Dream is in foal to Dreamloper's sire Lope de Vega, and is still only 13.

Dreamloper was the 2nd foal of Livia's Dream, and the mare is still only 13 and she is in foal again to Lope de Vega. Olivia Hoare has two half-sisters to Dreamloper. She also owns an Intello filly called Maud Gonne Spirit, whose dam is Livia's Dream's granddam. Surprisingly she's due to be sold at the December Sales. Trousering the 2+ million dollars may make her hang on to this one for a while at least.
It will be interesting to see who she sends Livia's Dream to next year. New Bay could be a good choice or maybe, because of Lope de Vega, to another son of Shamardal.

As I hoped Maud Gonne Spirit was withdrawn from today's Breeding Stock sale. Hopefully that means she is covered next year. Would you go to Lope de Vega with her? Always difficult with a first foal, I'd go Earthlight though she'll be inbred to Galileo. I suppose Victor Ludorum could be the answer, with no Northern Dancer in the first 4 removes.
