In a full season with Cardiff last season Philogene scored 4 and made 1 assist. In 12 games for us he has 6 goals and 5 assists, he’s obviously improved and added more end product to his game. I’d imagine next summer if not January there will be PL teams sniffing. Whether it’s a case of a technicality where Villa do a future transfer through themselves and pocket the profit I aren’t sure. I think something similar happened with Alderweireld when he was at Southampton and went to Spurs but I could be wrong. he’s an unbelievable player at this level though, so let’s just enjoy him whilst he’s here and hope he fires us to promotion
He's a wonderful player at this level, but I think we're kidding ourselves if we think he'd have the same impact up against PL full backs. He has a bright future, and probably at that level, but I'd agree that PL clubs would surely want to see him maintain his current form for a whole season before taking a punt. Timing would have to be right as I believe you can't be registered with three clubs in the same season (or is it only that you can't appear for three clubs)?
The only part I wonder about is how long villa have the clause for, Say we somehow got promoted this year, but Villa decide he's not quite there yet, can they wait a few seasons until we're an established mid table side and philo's worth 50mil and then buy him for 15mil? Or is it a 'we're in the prem now, now or never'?
Right now, I can see zero reason why he would want to go back to Villa and lurk around the fringes of their Europa Conference League squad. He gives the impression he’s loving life at City.
