Glasvegas are an inspiration in a way aren't they. Saw the lead singer on Soccer Saturday, he was a failed footballer (Alloa, Airdrie and a few other lower league scottish teams) got released and his sister bought him a guitar to give him something to do coz he was moping round the house doing nothing. Taught himself to play formed a band with sister and a few mates and a few years later ... Glasvegas! Makes you wonder whether it is really that easy!?

Just like Arctic Monkeys - Alex and Jamie buying each other guitars for their birthdays.. then forming a band.. then posting their songs on the internet. now look at them. huuuuuuuge.

wish it was that easy
just a shame no one plays the friggin' drums anymore <grr>

You see Elbow earlier DT?

Leeds/Reading tickets still for sale due to the line up being pretty disappointing. Sold out so quick last year too.

yeah i might be off regardless i think. strokes, pulp and elbow being pretty big attractions for me. offspring might be interesting too <laugh>
not feeling any of mcr, 30 seconds to mars or any of that lot. not for me!

Missed most of it AH. :( Turned on just as they were finishing, but saw the interview and the clip they showed of them doing One Day Like This. Did you see them? Were they any good?

Yeah they looked pretty decent, Guy Garvey had the crowd eating out his hands really. looking forward to seeing them

Yeh, see where you're coming from..didnt really enjoy their first album, except from Geraldine....however, the second album is really good. Mr old French teacher claims to know the lead singer, all he'd baffle on about in 2007 was how they were going to be huge...seriously, all through my GCSE year he'd bang on about them. Never thought he'd actually be sort of right. Bless him.

30 Seconds to Mars are amazing live though. Them, Rise Against & Enter Shikari are probably the main pulls for me. Not a fan of mcr though <doh>

yeah bet they're good live, just not a huge fan myself! Definitely not liking MCR though, how the hell they managed to grab a headline spot I have no idea. Ridiculous.

Doesn't seem all that gentlemanly, discussing music festivals. Surely there should be a debate about whose interpretation of Brahms' 2nd cello sonata is more fitting to the composer's original intentions.

Apprantely even Jay-Z said they were brilliant...about time that guy got a decent music taste. 'Cos his best mates band are pretty crap. I know who i'd rather hang with between Elbow and Coldplay.

Agree Geraldine was the only highlight from the first album but the new album is much better. Not saying they are brilliant or anything (although I do like them and they are a good band imo) but to get that big that quick without coming from a musical background shows that there is a hope for almost anybody.

Hmmmm, I see what you mean.

So fellow gentlemen! What do we make of the Tory party? I find them all very good whatwhat.

To lure in the emo kids. Definitely better bands such as 30stm, Pulp, Elbow or Interpol who are more apt headliners imo.

Frankly the uncouth Cameron is far too working class and a poor influence on non plebeian society.

Oh quite, but he's better than that insufferable oaf Johnson! What this country needs is another Harold MacMillan
