Zidane was a better all-round player, also I think Ronaldo (the winking ****er not the one with thyroid troubles) is a better player, that's not to say that Messi isn't sensational himself
Like you eh ? It is a pointless argument anyway as different generations have different views. The modern day football fan cannot see beyond the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.
I hope you ain't suggesting me and OLM are modern day football fans. Well we are, in that we're fans of modern day football, but you're insinuating we've not been fans of football for donkey's years, which of course we have, and is why we think you're talking ****e. I hope that makes sense...
Your both missing the point. Different generations have different views. Some will say that the likes of Carter - Finney - Matthews - Lofthouse - Eusebio - Puskas - Di Steffano etc. that generation were the best ever. Many say they were better than Pele and Best. I would say that Maradona was a better player than Messi. But as mentioned before different generations have different views. The balls and pitches also make it much simpler for todays top talent.
Zidane > Messi anyday. Personally, Zidane > All the other legends mentioned. I don't like to pick players who I've never seen properly. You don't get to see them playing all the time and therefore have to create an opinion based on highlights. To be fair, I don;t really like picking just one 'best ever', I try to pick one for the 3 key positions. For example: GK - Buffon DEF - Maldini MID - Zidane ATT - Messi
Buffon? Dunno about GK but if we're doing positiobmns then def would be beckenbauer then the same two you mentioned
It was between him and Kahn. Remember what I said above it, I don't like to pick players who I've not seen properly and not just through highlights. If I was basing it on just highlights, my GK would be Lev Yashin and DEF would be Beckenbauer.
I have some fairly substantial back up with this bold claim. Even Matt will kneel before me in acknowledgement of my all seeing power. Insert evil laugh.
Yes of course he is. A player who's not played in Europe and has only proved himself in the brazillian league so far as opposed to the player who's won the ballon d'or every year since 2009...
Pele only ever played in Brazil and the USA and never won the Ballon d'Or... (I'm not trying to argue, I'm just showing you that that particular argument is a little flawed...)
My argument is in no way flawed. Non european players weren't allowed to win the award until 1995. Therefore Pele couldn't possibly win the award. Atm everyone is allowed to win and all players have a level playing field, which Messi has dominated....
I'll come clean. It was Pele who said Naymar was better than Messi, which is ****ing well laughable. I think Naymar is ****, I also think Messi is the best player of his generation by a country mile and on a par with Zidane. I also get laughed at for saying this but Pele was over rated as well from what I've seen. I will explain this theory if anyone is interested but he wasn't in the same league as Maradonna but the silly old buffoon insists he is the greatest player to have walked the planet. He's a ****. I think he knows he's a **** but is in denial. It's an age thing, he can't get wood after all.
