This is hideous. Have parts of society always been this bad but were hidden away until the internet came?

Tennis player Boulter reveals scale of online abuse

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/cj42rvdk2k4o

This is the problem with society, people think they can say what they want without any repercussions, freedom of speech is one thing, but abusing that right has to stop.

When your speech is affecting others by either threats or abuse then you should be held accountable and publically named, shamed and prosecuted.

Crazy that some of the comments almost appear to have been sent unconsciously. Type out some ****e and hit send without a second's thought:

Boulter says she has occasionally engaged with those who have sent her abuse, in an effort to get them to think about what they have said.

She says: "I've just tried to send them a nice message [so] maybe they can take a second and look at themselves and go: 'Oh, well maybe I shouldn't have sent that.'

"Sometimes the replies I actually get from that is them saying: 'Oh no, I'm a huge fan. I'm so sorry. I didn't want to send you that stuff, but it was emotional, I didn't mean to. You know, I still support you. I think you're amazing.'

"They don't realise sometimes what they've actually said to these people."

I know not everyone may follow tennis but this articles highlights the ridiculous levels of abuse sports people get these days. Shocking - makes you wonder why any post on line (although I do accept the majority of people follow these sports stars for the right reason)

Katie Boulter: British tennis player reveals social media abuse she has received - BBC Sport

Social media has made people incredible unsocial

they see the likes of Tr*mp, Musk, Robinson and Farge get away with spreading vile and think its ok to follow suit,

they can hide behind their keyboards and faceless accounts,

send death threats, threaten r*pe and face no or very little punishment,

F**kin local jobless PIP grabbing workshy lazy b**tards sitting in the garden getting tanned from half 10 of a Thursday morning drinking all day until they're totally pissed shouting, balling and arguing til the wee small hours with zero f**ks given if some people actually need to go to work to earn money... bums out"

RTG down again.

Looks like they're being hit with DNS again.

Before it went down there was a warning bar saying they were experiencing a Denial of Service attack so expect some delays, however does look like it's taken it down altogether.

How long did it take them to get it back up last time?

I was at a wedding party tonight in Sunderland, only knew a few people there, so it was one of thoes where you just observe the room. The "When I was young, I had no sense... " tune came on. Most people in the room started singing the Newcastle version, so up I went to the DJ, "Have you got Ready to go by Republica", "of course I have mate", on it went.... place went f**kin mental.
