@Smug in Boots, I don't know what to say mate, you've knocked me for six. No way I could take you up on it, but bloody hell man, I'm honestly speechless.
It's the Mrs who needs one, I'm just a donor, but we aren't a blood match, so I can't just donate one direct to her. This is where the kidney sharing scheme comes in. There may be another couple somewhere, one of who needs a kidney, and mine matches their blood group. Their partner also donates, and hopefully their healthy kidney matches my Mrs. There could be numerous couples involved in one matching, so in theory there could be kidneys flying all over the UK to different hospitals, all at the same time.
As I said in an earlier post, the next matching process is now end October, so we just carry on doing what we're doing till then. I put the Mrs on home dialysis three times a week, I'm getting quite a dab hand at it now. Had a couple of issues tonight, but the training kicks in and it gets resolved.
On the plus side, my waistline is thankful!!
At the beginning of this process I was advised to cut down on alcohol and had to lose 3kg to allow me to donate. I cut out alcohol full stop, and vowed not to have another until I'd lost a kidney, and was fully recovered. I was then looking forward to a few pints of celebratory Guinness. So the abstinence continues, now on day 320 (im not counting, honest), and have lost 2 stone (12kg).
We'll get there, she's also on the cadaver (deceased) transplant list as well, so there's always a chance there as well. I would rather we done the live donor route though, at least I could help someone else that way.

Toast...it's bloody dangerous, that's what it is.
I was having a slice at work and the toast dust caught me throat just as I was about to swallow a bit. Got stuck and couldn't get it out, strted choking....very scary. Took a work colleague to whack my back to dislodge it.
Never eaten it since, too bloody dangerous.
My Auntie Mary, from Chopwell, had a slice stuck in the toaster and tried to get it out with a carving knife.
The toaster shorted out and shot the knife into the ceiling ...
... her family left it there to remind her never to do it again!

Came over Blackpool for the Airshow because the bastards cancelled Sunderland’s so the bairns have never seen it. Absolutely heaving, not a cloud in the sky. Seen a few red and white tops anarl. Such a shame they got rid.
Always a good weekend down Blackpool, regardless of any event/weather. We were there this time last year for Preston away
