Watched the first season of Sunderland til I die for the second time. In fairness, the opsticals the club and Bain had to overcome were massive. We watched it through anger, but watching it back again its amazing just how **** we were. Premier leauge hangover, no money etc.night and day to what we are now. Not bothering with season 2. Just one look at Donald and my heart rate went up. If Donald is Bush, then Charlie is Cheney.

Didn't even try season 2 but season 1 althought it was a horror show it was easier to watch as we all knew how **** it was behind the scenes. Bain did his job I think, just a shame his job in football is to come in and cut costs and pretty much asset strip. Donald and co were able to take many fans in because of what went before so it is harder to watch him back.

Red letter day for me today, decided to retire early and did my last shift yesterday.
Was going to wait til my 74th birthday in March but thought I'd start early and have the winter off.
Feet up for now as the missus works out my list of things to do around the house<laugh>
Brilliant mate, hope you enjoy it, at 73 it sounds like you've earned it.
<cheers>

Things would have been so different if the scouts had managed to attract their main target from the whiteboard - Zlatan <laugh>

I always find it strange how often that gets overlooked. We had scouts being paid by the club to suggest names like Zlatan when we were in the Championship. They should never get a job in football again.

Happy Retirement, take it easy, plenty of times for those odd jobs :emoticon-0167-beer:

Hilarious that was. Basically the scouts come in and named anyone they thought was available for transfer (regardless of them being realistic for the club or a fit for what was needed) then ****ed off. Must have tool them about 2 hours to knock that list up.

They should have been sacked on the spot as soon as they mentioned zlatan.

A couple of things struck me while listening to the news.

Firstly I keep being told the world of football is in a state of shock over the Indonesian game ...

... I'm not tbh and don't know anyone else who is.

And why do people always say no one should ever go to a football match and not come home ...

... you could say that about going on holiday or a run or driving to the coast.

There are dangers everywhere, especially when thousands of excitable people are crammed together.

It wasn't just Methven and Donald causing the problems. Most of the staff who'd been here for years seemed to take offence at being asked to do their job. That meeting where Methven asks for ideas and gets blank looks, then suggests ideas and basically gets 'that's all too difficult, I can't be arsed' was put your foot through the telly stuff.

Massive shooting at a day care centre in Thailand. 34 dead including 22 kids. Gunman then shot himself.

Crazy stuff.

He human race has made absolutely no progress in all this time...

... we congratulate ourselves for curing deseases we created and think we're so clever <doh>

Couldn't agree more mate.
Someone quoted a Dylan lyric somewhere else a bit earlier....."Licence to Kill"...particularly verses 2 and 3 seem to articulate things very well.

we are the only one that developed greed, and with it, the need to feel 'better' than the next man (barring a few of the more remote tribes) everything else on this planet takes only what it needs.
Greed and feeling better than - perfectly demonstrated by an empty coke bottle in the film “ The Gods Must be Crazy”
