I've had to avoid the Oasis thread because it obviously means a lot to people and I don't want to be a killjoy.

But seriously, I find the whole thing the exact antithesis of rock & roll.

It all reminds me of how Newcastle supporters have allowed themselves to be hoodwinked and sport washed.

People are paying absolute fortunes to watch tiny figures on a stage, massive TV screens, areas for twelve year olds, etc. And these aren't the latest, hottest, wildest young dudes, they're two middle aged men being photographed looking moody.

What next after a tour of stadiums, will they do an 'Adele' and cop a Las Vegas casino residency ...

... and will people still think they're wild men of rock?
I ‘m not bothered about Oasis either - but each to their own and I hope the fans enjoy it.
I mean enjoy by watching it , seeing the light show/ effects, soaking up the atmosphere and being able to describe it later — not spending a fortune on a ticket just to stare at your little phone screen most of the night making a video that you’ll never watch

That's something I just don't get at all.

People go to Niagara Falls and look at it through a phone then shuffle along to the end of the visit. FFS just absorb what's in front of you, there's a million videos you can watch that are a million times better than what you'll record.

This isn't worth a new thread, it's barely worth a post but, for some reason, I'm still laughing three days later ...

... but there's also a sad and serious aspect which is such a shame.

There's been a big birthday weekend so I gathered up all the champagne bottles, etc, and put them in the footwell of the van, and front seat, then set off for the bottle bank. As I drive through the village there's cars parked all along the left kerb but enough room to get through. Then a tractor comes flying round the corner towards me so I brake and move over.

There's a big crash so I'm thinking 'Great, insurance claim, my fault, NCB screwed' and pull up at the next gap so I can leave notes on whichever cars I've hit. There's another crash and I realise it's bottles falling out of the bag on the seat! I'm now wound up with mesel, for being stupid, so blow up and start violently punching the steering wheel and screaming 'f*ck f*ck f*ck!

When I snapped out of this rare and unexpected rage I glanced to my left to see a poor kid, about eight years old, staring at me and burst into tears. I pondered the wisdom of leaving the van, taking his hand and explaining that sometimes adults do silly things but that it's actually quite harmless ...

... then I put the van in first gear, floored it and screamed off down the hill leaving him in tears.

F*ck all these child molesting pervert celebrities who've made it so difficult to speak to kids on the street of your village.
I would gladly put the noose around the neck of those who harm kids - I spend my life being terrified if a small child comes close and looks like they want to interact.

Me and Mrs Smug were camping, and hiking, in Derbyshire near Matlock. The campsite was great with wonderful views, great location and a 'shop' with an honesty box for whatever food and drink you took. A sparkling little eight year old girl, kept passing our pitch, took to Mrs Smug and invited herself to sit down, every morning, to tell us all about herself, her interests and her family. Her mam and dad were fine with all this and would tell her not to bore us too much.

One day she got on about her dad and that he was too fat. For a joke I said I was videoing her so she should be careful what she says about people. The same afternoon her folks stomped past us without looking and, within an hour, the owners had asked us to leave the site.

Absolutely ruined the trip and made sure I no longer allow random kids to dwell with us ...

... what a mess we're making of our brief time on the planet.

was in a static in berwick recently, across the way were a scottish family and from what i could gather, 2 kids both lads, the mother and grandmother...never really spoke but one day the youngest laddie decided to talk, made sure my phone was out of sight and the gate on the static was closed while in full view of their static.

the laddie was great, chatting away about how long they were there and where they had come from etc but felt 'difficult' which is alien to me..kids are mint and anyone even thinking of hurting them should be kicked into a dungeon and forgot about, unfortunately i come from a time when we looked after the bairns and find it hard these days to 'keep a clear distance'.

Sorry to lower the tone, I've just collected my sample for a routine bowel screening test. I know a few lads in my age group (50-60) who've received the test kit through the post, apparently the NHS are extending it from the previous 60+ age group. Better to catch these things early so hope everyone who receives the test kit returns a sample.

The current test is much 'simpler' than the previous one.
That one involved taking a scraping of your sample for three consecutive days,'

A couple of years ago, the subject of this three yearly test, cropped up in conversation in The Club.
One of the company was appaled.
I'm not having anything to do with all that. It's disgusting.
Nothing the rest of us could say, including how less intrusive the new test was, could change his mind.

Sadly he passes away last year from bowel cancer.

I urge everyone to do this test AND make sure that your Family members do it too.

Prison population drops by record amount under Labour early release scheme
Pure disgrace the wrong prisoners are been released
Recidivists should not be released there is others that fit the criteria
These recidivists will be back in soon then the system has not worked

Whether we think prison is for punishment or for rehabilitation, either way the other thing is that for that period the public know that they are kept away from us. For those who have accommodation or homes waiting , why not put tags on them and keep them indoors for the rest of the sentence. Surely they ( and the civil rights people) couldn’t complain about that option ?
