I said last week before the Helsingborg trip that there is something not right about the non appearances of Sessegnon this pre season. All the bullshit about him niot going to Sweden as he would have missed a days training to go to london doesnt sit with me at all. Surely the club administrate those sorts of visas, not the player?

Now, with only 2 games to go until Arsenal, Sess is injured and wont make Derby County? What next? He had to stay in the pay the window cleaner so wont make Leicester on Saturday?

I am more and more convinced he will be leaving with this news and the fact is he either just doesnt want to come back or the club are unwilling to risk a real injury thus effecting his sale.

Its the worst attempt at covering up the fact he is going I have seen in an age and the club should come out and say he is for sale and get a bidding war going before the last day fiasco we have witnessed with the likes of Bent and Gyan.

If it’s a straight swap for Adam Johnson and this lad John Guidetti then I'd take that now and move on from this will he won’t he saga.
 
We lose Sess our attacking options are going to look very thin indeed. Without a replacement we go from mid-table to edge of relegation at a stroke. He didn't make Garth Crooks' team of the season (surely the last word in high praise :)) for nothing!
 
Sess cannot be allowed to go WITHOUT replacements.


However, depending on who those replacements may be, I'm not overly concerned if he did. Like I say, if its the calibre of Adam Johnson I wont complain.
 
I hope he doesn't go, personally. I think he'd have thrived with a couple of decent target men up front. Imagine what he'd have done playing behind Big Niall and SKP with Johnson and Summerbee on the wings. The back four could have got a card school going during matches...
 
Johnson has a higher market value than Sessegnon, partly due to being English. To swap Guidetti and Johnson for Sess, you'd have to stump up at least 5m in my opinion.
Also, the club won't want to announce that he's for sale as this will instantly take a couple of million off his value.
 
Sessegnon probably has a higher "value" to clubs though, because Johnson is on a bumper packet at Citeh, whereas Sess will be within our pay structure.

I'd bite anyone's hand off to swap Sess + £5M for Guidetti and Johnson though. Can't see that one happening mind.
 
It does look a bit suspect. He's a good player but there is little point in keeping him if he doesn't want to be there. The only thing that maybe suggests there is nothing sinister is that the club would surely have started a bidding war if they knew he wanted out? It would represent a royal cock up to try and keep an unhappy player at all costs. Short is no fool.

Players pick up small injuries all the time it's just 9 times out of 10 they're needed to play and can't afford to be rested. At least with the season not started they can rest him in time for the start of the season.

And if you are right and he leaves, we can say we enjoyed his time here as the most skilful player to ever wear a Sunderland shirt.
 
Sess is the only forward we have that we know can score. & the fact he is a midfielder is terrible. We need to keep him at all cost IMO.

I know some deals take time but if we have not made any signings by next Monday I will
Start to worry. If we go to arsenal with our current squad i will be gutted they will run riot.

Our squad lacked quality last season we have released/sold 18 players and only signed one. We should still have money to spend from the sale Henderson, bent & gyan.

Come on MoN & ES get the cheque book out.

The bigger teams would take more and more notice.

When he ripped Tiote and Barton new ones against Newcastle, even though I enjoyed it.
I knew others would be just as impressed, after all they aren't exactly mugs.

I really hope Sess is here for at least another season.
In my mind he would be irreplacable whilst Short has the purse strings gripped so tight. (Yes I know he will be feeling wary over some of the wastes of money we have had over recent years.)

If we want to play with the big boys we have to pay big boys wages.
 
My oft repeated mantra on theses boards is during this 'window' to hang onto Sess and bring in 2 strikers and a creative midfielder.

Losing Sess would be a step backwards IMHO, we would need to bring immediately one or two replacements! When Bent left we well told we would get a replacement, well we are still waiting for that to happen, Flecther is OK but not in the same class as Bent. Not replacing Bent was a significant factor in SBs 11 months of failure at the SoL. Let's hope your theories are wrong Cest!

No not this at all mate. I am convinced we have the best post war manager at the club now by a country mile and a real astute businessman who controls it all.

The will he won't he debate about Sess has dragged on too long. I just don't want another Gyan or Bent situation on the last day, although I can't see this manager allowing that to happen at all.

There is more to this non appearance of Sess imo than at first glance and there is no way he can be fit for Arsenal if if misses the whole pre season run in.
 
Nowt like sitting on a fence but I have no idea what to read into this. Cant really see much good news coming out of safc at the moment (this is not a whinge by the way). Friendlies have been totally uninspiring, little injuries cropping up and no imminent signings with the season a week and a half away???? (It does sound like a whinge now admittedly). We need a couple of big name signings to lift spirits before we start the season with the same group that ended last season so poorly.

if an ATTACKERS performance in a 1-0 defeat is the one that sticks in your memory, maybe Sessegnon is nowhere near as good as you make him out to be.

Sess is skillfull but lacks end product, good player, over-rated by many IMO he has the air of 'Steed' about him when the Mackem rule is run over him and opinions are formed. He would be a loss but not as bad as people make out. Fair do's if he goes and we don't add two strikers, a creative mid and maybe a winger then it's time to worry.

MON ain't no mug, neither is Short. MON wouldn't stand for being left to deal with a weaker squad (as Lerner learned to his and Villa's cost)
