Because the media insist on building him up as world class and every 2 years he plays like an overgrown turnip Along with the stunning performance from captain fantastic England might as well have been playing with 9 men
Ok, team for Thursday. Here's mine, and it includes Wayne Rooney (shock) in his ACTUAL best position; --------------Hart--------------- -Jones--Cahill--Jagielka--Shaw- -----Wilshere---Henderson---- ---Sterling---Barkley---Welbeck-- ------------Rooney-------------- This is the one I think he WILL pick though; --------------Hart--------------- -Johnson--Cahill--Jagielka--Baines- -----Gerrard---Henderson---- ---Sterling---Rooney---Welbeck-- ------------Sturridge-------------- Giving Gerrard every opportunity to hide from any blame and plenty of opportunity to blame Rooney if he doesn't score at least two.
Not a cat in hells chance he will drop Stevie Me. I think Roy has the problem of fitting Rooney, Sterling and Sturridge in to effectively 2 positions. He then ends up (and will end up) picking one in a wide role who doesn't do the tracking required well enough. If the Ox is fit, he needs to play wide and consider dropping one of the 3 to promote a better balanced side - he wont.
I would play two up top. No wingers but wing backs providing the width. Shaw has to play for me as hes young, fast and direct. perfect for the left wingback role. Time to be different and stray from the norm. Weve got the players in attack to be a big problem but we lack a midfield and a defence and our goalkeeper is dire. --------------Hart ------Cahill--- jag-----Jones johnson-----------------Shaw ------gerrard----henderson ----------Sterling -----Rooney---Sturridge I would consider dropping gerrard. Hes our worst player without doubt as he cannot play in a midfield 2. However options are limited.
I'd agree with chiefs first selection. Barkley and wilshere need to play. If Rooney does play he plays in his best position. Seems ridiculous him not doing so. I'd also give lallana a try in behind Rooney after a while. For me the most ineffective players on Saturday were baines and gerrard. I thought glen Johnson was **** too mind.
Yeah, Baines stunned me how bad he was. There's been a lot of talk that he was getting no cover from Rooney and that Rooney doesn't track back, well as a United fan I can tell you that's utter bollocks as you can't stop him from bleeding tracking back half the time. Here's the problem though, he tracks back from his natural position where he drops into midfield and helps to build new attacks. No, he doesn't really know how to track back to left back. That's because he isn't a ****ing left winger. You want that Roy then play Lallana, perfect.
Certainly could. hes in my team on the scouse board with the same formation. Hes a little injury prone though so we would probably need another option as well.
Gerrard over Wilshere for me. Better player and leader. Hart Anyone but Johnson Cahill Jagielka Baines Barkley Gerrard Chamberlain Rooney Sterling Sturridge We really do have a **** choice of CM's.
Is he a better player? In a midfield 2? Not so sure. Hes so slow its unreal and unlike other slow players he lacks every other attribute they have. awful leader as well in terms of england he would work in a 3 with 2 hard workers around him who do everything else.
Roy Hodgson wants Wayne Rooney to be involved in the penalty box why play him on the wing then you tw(a)t.
