Why would you include English words in the construction of a sentence in Welsh. I understand that due to globalisation that languages become under siege from imported English words, none more so would that naturally happen in Wales being part of the UK. However, I always thought the Welsh were protective of their language and i find it odd that you as a claimed fluent speaker allow that contamination of your Welsh language.

There are some words that I don’t understand in English.

None more so than me but that's down to education, i speak personally not having a go at you. But as i said, as a self claimed fluent speaker you seem to contradict yourself in your own construction of sentencing.

From a sociolinguistic perspective I would be interested to know how many English words have found their way into traditional Welsh usage over time. Every language undergoes such change I would imagine (studied language contact and language change).

Well yes but every **** in North Wales supports Pool, apparently. Not that I’d know as fortunately I have no reason to visit.

Everton. Probably more Everton fans in North Wales than merseyside. A lot of North Welsh Everton fans... Or at least used to be when I lived in England... It's the one place on Earth Everton fans outnumber Liverpool fans.

Nah pretty much every Northwalian I've met is a Liverpool fan.

No wonder Matth is so losing the plot he's surrounded by them.

Apart from in Liverpool

****ing Sherman.

Is Welsh a language?

I always thought it was merely a dialect of Indian, because every time I’ve told a joke that required me to effect a Welsh accent I’ve always ended up sounding Indian.

The Welsh are the ultimate WUMs... There's actually no such thing as Welsh, they're just speaking gibberish to confuse any nearby English people.

I'm glad to hear that it has changed and that Everton have fans in England now. Surprised ... But it's good for the league that you're not completely unsupported now. <ok>
