The weather

FFS. just seen the news, why does no one use winter tyres?

A few flakes of the white stuff and the whole country grinds to a halt.
But it doesn’t.

There’s always some daft ****s who think they should be entitled to act like it’s not dangerous.

I’m guessing you’re one of those that expects the local council should keep all roads clear by investing a fortune just in case? You’d be ok paying for that?

Weirdly most people CBA with forking out for snow tyres for at most a week a year.

Hard to think of anything more annoying at the mo than ****s banging on about how it doesn’t affect other countries like it does us.

It does.

Winter tyres ? Summer tyres ? Wait until the marketing guys try selling us Autumn and Spring tyres. Then there'll be motorway tyres and non motorway tyres. Next they'll be changing football club kits every season and expecting we'll be daft enough to buy them.

But does so little snow affect them so much?

OK I admit the winter tyres bit was a baited hook but come on headline news SNOW BOMB HITS supported by a picture of a road with what looks like less than 1/2 inch of snow. Is there a need for schools to close tomorrow? maybe in some rural remote areas but the big city's where most kids could walk to school surely not.

Snow in winter..Whats goin on? I blame Global warming and all the hot air coming off Rehabs receding hairline.

Good job that Lincoln Christmas Market was cancelled. Would have been carnage with all that light dusting of snow
And snow is literally the worst thing that could happen at a market planned for the winter

Headline? Oh in the media. They just want your attention so they can sell more advertising.

Don’t fall for it.

Some schools will close. Some won’t.

Not everyone lives within walking distance of their school. If half the staff have long drives in, you don’t want a full school of kids in.

Plenty of accidents round here today, generally people who thought they should be out in their car when they shouldn’t.

Tomorrow add in black ice and ask yourself is it worth it?

Some Xmas Market was postponed, until next Sunday, in Sandbach today because they were expecting 8” overnight.

If that’s 8” I’ve got a 6’ knob.

As a teacher, I'm always praying for it. (Joking...)

Primary school children under the age of 10 generally don't walk to school alone, they're dropped off by parents on their way to work. Weather is one of the few legitimate reasons you can keep your child off, I imagine there'll be a lot of them doing it if the weather turns bad, it isn't worth the risk. As it stands, no schools in Hull are closed tomorrow from what I've heard.
