I was reading of a Watford fan of some 30 years who lives in Denmark, yet despite all of those years had never actually been to the Vic before yesterday. He had seen the team at some away games over the years, but really felt he was missing out by not getting to his 'home' ground. At half time he sat back and refused to let the display spoil his day, but the second half was just from a different world. So far he has had an offer of a season ticket for the rest of the season, but travel just might be a problem. :emoticon-0100-smile

Welcome to the board Jim. For the past few seasons I only get to a game a season. Now my son is older we can go together and he's really enjoying it and I can get to a few a season. Picked yesterday as it was a cheapie like you. Regretted it at half time, but brilliant by the end. The Rookery hasn't grown but may have looked bigger to you from the lower GT. The noisy bunch (The 1881) have been around for a couple of years and do a great job. Hopefully I can make some more games this season but when you can't make games, someone here will always do a great job of keeping you up to date.

Welcome Jim. Some of us hardly get to any games. I have only seen one since a boring 0-0 draw with them up the road in 1993. I wouldn't recognise the Vic now but, thanks to this board, I have some idea of what is going on.

Like most us who have followed Watford's fortunes over the years , I have a fair streak of realism / pessimism . However , I sense this head coach knows his stuff , will command respect and get the current bunch of players to gel ( must be a difficult task with so many nationalities ) .
Surely ,this squad has got to be the most talented we have ever had . There are so many players capable of banging the ball in the net . The ball goes to feet and there is tremendous pace .
Loved watching the Graham Taylor sides of the late 70s into the 80s ...they had real fight / team spirit ...but were they all individually skilful players ? Luther and Ross Jenkins were great , but they did often look a bit clumsy .
I believe the current players are going to take us up this season and with a few more additions will be strong enough to stay up . Watson looks to be a good addition and hopefully the new central defender will add more resilience to the defence.
The ground now looks great , the atmosphere has vastly improved ...Happy times for Hornets fans .

welcome jim
when i lived in the uk i got to 3 to 4 a year and now i see most of the games when in the uk about 10 lol
i try not to chat about religion or politics when i go to games i have space in the car if it help to get you to more games
that offer is open to any fans around the A1 im there for all of march

Hello Brian , you are welcome to pick me up from Buckingham ...( I'm an ex 'emel lad )
for the time being I will choose to remain quiet on politics ...these days I seem to swing between Communist , fascist and anarchist depending on my mood ( must be an age thing ) . Just please don't send a tory my way . GRrrrr
As for religion ... well I'm also a lapsed chappie there ..was once considering bible college, but that was a very long time ago !
Conspiracy theories are also great fun ( and of course mostly true ) ...but I just cant be bothered winding up another bunch of "sheeple" ..:emoticon-0100-smile
Best to stick to the bonkers game, where grossly overpaid sportsmen chase around a leather ball, with the aim of kicking it between widely spaced sticks.

<yikes> oldnickhornet! Well there's a blast from the past... :)

Hello, nick!

Now, I've been having a mooch abartabit and noticed all your posts are when the transfer window is open. This Janaury, before that you posted in August and then before that in January again. You are clearly a football agent and I claim my five pounds.
I've been rumbled! Yes, I'm the one responsible for bringing the likes of L.Dyer, Andrews to the club-people have a lot to thank me for.Dont want to worry anyone but I've also got Balotelli on my books.
Andy Rankin, rarely spoken of but what a spiffing 'keeper for the club....shows you dont have to be a giant to be good.(Yes I did actually attend matches once upon a time)

Blimey - I did not realise you were Catholic Cologne - and to use a public confessional is brave :)

Well you know what's what with Catholics... they can get get up to all sorts of mischief, pop into confessional, and a couple hail Mary's and our father's later all is absolved. :emoticon-0105-wink:
