So as the summer holiday season draws to a close and I guess most haven't been anywhere, a chance to post holiday and travel memories.

Hotel, b+b, campervan, caravan, tent or just dossing out.

Plane, train, automobile, boat, bike or even shove iron.

Even though i'm getting on a bit I still enjoy camping. Me, the motorbike and a good book. Only managed 5 nights in the tent this year where I would normally do about 30ish.

Oh well next year.

Had a week camping in Devon,great time,beautiful place .. Went to dawlish,exmouth,Torquay and teignmouth,would certainly go back

We managed a week in Cornwall, a log cabin on a farm. Took our bikes (electric ones, we're getting on a bit!) and had some good days out. Big problem getting tables in good restaurants though, far too busy. We called one place in Rock, voice message, 'you are no. 22 in the queue'. Bugger that for a lark! Went to the Minack Theatre, extraordinary place, well worth seeing, and St Ives is always good for a day out. I like Cornwall because it's just different enough to make you feel as though you've been away somewhere.

Took the caravan over to the North West lakes over the summer and in an attempt to avoid any of that fell walking nonsense decided only to circumnavigate lakes.

Walked round Loweswater, Buttermere, Cogra Moss and Ennerdale Water (Twice - once clockwise and once anticlockwise).

Over the next couple of weeks I'm hoping to bring my caravan down to East Yorkshire and spend my time leisurely and slowly driving around the roads around South Cave.


Just in an attempt to piss OLM off obviously.

Went to Scarborough a few times and stayed with a mate there.
Had great weather and did loads of walking. Went to Scarboroughs ground and paid respects to our friend
Scarborough is lovely. I really liked the fact you can buy a Bench there when a loved one has passed on and put an inscription on it. so poignant.
had fish n chips in mother Hubbards, recommended.

I’m currently planning to book a holiday to Austria for next March but the current guidance is ‘only essential travel’ and you have to quarantine when you get back.
Sounds stupid but the travel company say they won’t go if either of those things is still in place so I’d just get my money back.

Seem sensible? I can’t see a problem really?

Off to butlins in January for 80’s weekend, apparently it’s still open but no idea if it’s viable.
Nowt booked for abroad next year it’s too ****ing depressing looking and not been sure about going

They have benches which people have bought in memory of relatives with inscriptions on all along sea front on Brid and on clifftop on the way to Sewerby. There are some whicn people have bought just because they enjoyed the views and wanted to give something back, others to thank the RNLI and coastguards.

That's a really sad post on a really sad thread

Our lives have changed beyond belief but hopefully we'll ALL get through this safe and get back to some sort of normality ASAP....

Budapest will be worth waiting for - however long you're booked for it won't be enough. First job is to get a travel pass to allow you to jump on and off any of the public transport vehicles, public transport wasn't expensive but the pass is so convenient. If you like craft beer the Soproni is a really tasty light ale.

Corfu 2 weeks ago for 5 nights via Heathrow. Booked last minute to see what was still on. Heaven just heaven. Never been to Greece. Def go again. Camping Norfolk 3 nights July. Grateful as hell for the breaks

I'm missing planning and thinking about holidays as much as going on them but our horizon's will broaden again. In the meantime make the most of staycations, we managed to get a cottage in the Peak District during good September weather.

We had a long weekend away in Cornwall earlier this month. It was a diving trip that got cancelled in May and the group I dive with decided to risk October.
It may seem strange but the sea temperature is actually warmer in October than in May.
We also managed to get to Lanzarote just before lockdown in March and the start of the wife’s treatment.
Next year, I have booked May in Cornwall and possibly Malta (both dive trips). We plan to go back to Lanzarote (10th time) in September.

Before driving down my road, remember to pull up next to 'unsuitable for caravans' sign and wave at it, before completely ignoring it, like every other ****er.

Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. Hopefully we'll get there next year. My daughter is a travel agent, and she books for us spinning the hotel some guff about birthdays or anniversaries, they often upgrade for free.
