Didn't really pick up any Marquee signings in the summer either. We have to face it we pick up other clubs scraps and rejects, and only one or two work out. Last minute panic loans are not a good sign to me, meaning there is something fundamentally wrong with our transfer policy. If you look at the squad of 22 Jokanovic doesn't pick Cisse or Djalo, Button is the spare goalkeeper. Kalas Targett Norwood Ojo Piazon Mitrovic are all loans of which we can only play 5 and I doubt if we will purchase many if any of these in the summer. Cairney & Ayite have continued to be injury prone this season. It's a big gamble that we will not get injuries and suspensions going into the run-in for promotion places.
I am generally pretty happy with our window, we signed a left back and cleared out players who Jokanovic was refusing to play. However I have two very large and specific concerns. The plus point is that we have two good right backs and two good left backs (Fredericks/Christie, Targett/Sessegnon). We have Piazon, Ojo, Kebano & Ayite for the wing positions (plus Sessegnon) and three strikers. My concern is that we have put all our eggs in a very Ream shaped basket. Odoi and Kalas will split time at RCB, but our only cover for Ream is Djalo. One red card and we are horribly exposed. I just don't understand selling Madl when our cover is so light. Lastly, we are getting too addicted to loans. The only reason we could buy in the summer was the sales of Malone/Aluko - who exactly could we sell in the summer to fund a retooling of the squad, if needed? We're running down the size/quality of our permanent squad and it's dangerously reminiscent of what we were doing when we were relegated.
Apparently Ibrahim Cisse's move to French Ligue 1 side Amiens didn't go through because the registration papers were late ... by 3 minutes! Could be mistaken but think it would have been a permanent transfer. please log in to view this image Source: https://www.walfoot.be/fra/news/lis...pe-un-transfert-en-ligue-1-pour-trois-minutes
