There is a thread with Greg Dyke in the title. People forget the man running the Farce Association gave us Roland Rat in the 80's...
This one's from my brother-in-laws band. Very good band who's breaking quite big in Norway at the moment.
Good call Norway. I went to see A-ha's final London gig at the Royal Albert Hall. ( Apparently they maybe reforming again for another farewell tour.) A very underrated group, A-ha although deemed an eighties pop-synth band, had very intricate song arrangements that still stand up to this day. Pål Waaktaar possessed an instant knack of turning ordinary pop songs into instantly likeable one's by adding the odd major note here and there. They used very similar song structures to U2 but whereas U2 took the down beat ( minor notes ) and forlorn sound A-ha chose the upbeat route. U2 gained the kudos and the plaudits but A-ha were also right up there when it came to writing songs. They chose the commercial route over the more difficult indie cool one and U2 have rightly taken their place in the rock hall of fame. A-ha were close but were made to change their style for commercial success. This track is a good indication of their rawness.
Top band Aha, one more from me before I go get some ZZzzz's. I love this song from their stay on these roads album (I think)
UTR's your musical vocabulary is out of this stratosphere compared to mine, and I feel that I know my music. I bow down to you sir, goodnight.
Cheers mate. I'm no musical expert, like you and many I just love all sorts of different grooves. Not only that we have a nice chilled out and sociable thread. Thanks again everyone
