That's a shame. I have read now and again that Morrissey has been haveing more than a few bouts of ill health of late. I wounder if he is not firing on full cylinders these days. Oh well as you say at least you saw him in his prime. Love this one and not heard in a while...
And while we are on the subject there are so many good smiths songs but this is a personal fave of mine...
Thanks again everyone for taking the time out to share music, I'm loving your input. It's your music thread so please keep sharing
Blimey! I haven't heard or thought about Spizzles for ages. Spizzenergi, Athletico Spizz and Spizzoil, great stuff.
Agreed. It's kinda spooky but I've been learning to play this one today and just about nailed down the solo part too....
Oh another question for you 9's, correct me if I'm wrong but I understand you play drums, bass and keyboard/piano. That's so call by the way, have you ever had a crack at writing your own music or song?
Mate, that's one of my fave Weller songs, a beautiful bit of songwriting! Top stuff for playing this dude
Late 70's and the early eighties, but 79/80 was about their heyday. They were the first band to top the first ever indie chart and were also renowned for changing their name every year.
Mainly guitar now UTR's, and yes I have. Whenever I attempt it the tune tends to morph into something that already exists. I thought I had an original song the other day but I realised it was a cross between 'Losing my religion' by Rem and 'Embarrassment' by Madness which uses the same chord sequence but a step apart. I'll get one down eventually but I just enjoy trying to work out the chords to songs I already know.
Mate, fair play. It's not easy that's for sure. I have a replica electric guitar. I have two left hands when it comes to attempting to play it. I'v given up but it looks so good on my wall anyway
I have a day off tomorrow so I will be logged on for a while. Nice to see you on our music thread 9's.
I was a bit late coming to the Smiths. It was only when I heard and bought this (See below) that I started getting into them. I love the mixture of the melodic guitar with the string arrangement and Morrisey's unmistakable drab undertone which carries the song along with a good solid bass and drum groove.
I do pop in from time to time mate. I like to see the forgotten gems of years gone by surface, as well as discovering something new that I may not of ever had the chance of finding out elsewhere before.
Nice choice, me too with the smiths and also so many other bands. I'm finding as I get older I'm beginning to like and appreciate bands I never had much time for like Oasis for example.
