Anyone who likes rock music history might be interested in this, a very clever 'family tree' on a unique layout, they can also frame it...

Thought we were all gigged out for the year, but just bought tickets for a Hogmanay bash with @UTRs fave Big Country at the Barrowlands...

How does Big Country work without Stuart Adamson - their own tribute band, or are they making new music. I really liked them for a time in the 80s.

Yeah, I was dubious too. Not a massive fan, so really only knew their hits but it was a great evening - just fancied doing something different for Hogmanay.

The guy they have singing now is quite a bit younger than the rest of the band, but had a good voice. There's some original members still playing, plus the guitarists son. They made another album ten years after Adamsons death, so some new material, so it's mainly the old stuff although they did play a brand new song on the night.

There were some big fans there who knew all words, singing their hearts out, and a lot of very pished people bouncing all over the place. It was fun - we ended up in the pub next door to the Barras til about 1.30 then staggered back to our hotel that had it's own party going on in the cocktail lounge - didn't look my scene, too many fancy pants fannies, would have looked right out of place in my gig-gear <laugh>

Never seen them before, but Mrs SM has...says it's a great experience. Very pyschedelic, lots of inflatable balls and unicorns and trippy visuals - sounds right up my street!
