Its the final day of the NFL season, and oh boy what a season it was. Megatron got his record, Peterson nearly did. J.J Watts 2 sacks shy of a new record. But most of all, it was the season of the rookies. RG3, Luck and Wilson fought their way to the playoffs and topped the headlines throughout the year. It was also the season of change. Alex Smith, Michael Vick, Mark Sanchez and John Skelton all got benched at some point in 2012. And only one out of four back up quarter backs was able to make a lasting impression: Colin kaepernick. Jim Harbaugh made the decision to ditch Smith halfway through the season, and in hindsight, it was the right decision. Being beaten by the Giants in such a clumsy fashion in last season's Conference title game against Giants, and a bad start of the season was a death sentence and it is likely that we wont see Smith playing in the distinct red and gold colours of the 49ers in the 2013 regular season.

On the AFC side the Ravens win the Conference title. And so it seems we got ourselves a brotherly feud here coming Sunday evening as its Jim Harbaugh against his brother John Harbaugh. This Super Bowl is also dubbed the 'Harbowl'. The Ravens have something to fight for: A Super Bowl title for retiring linebacker Ray Lewis. Hate him or love him, but he adds that bit extra to the game, both frustration and admiration for 38 year old veteran. This Super Bowl is his chance to leave the game with a bang.

So coming Sunday night promises to be a battle of the defences. But more importantly can de Running Backs be stopped? Ray Rice and Frank Gore have had outstanding seasons so far and both carried their teams to the Super Bowl. Can Kaepernick and Flacco generate enough moment for the two to score the points? Because there will likely be few of them.

The 49ers against the Ravens, Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh, Kaepernick vs. Flacco and Gore vs. Rice.

Hope you all have a great time!

I'm in the same boat as GBS, want the Ravens to win because I have mad love for Ray Lewis, but if I were a betting man my money would be on the 49ers. Wouldn't put it past the Ravens as they are still a very good team, but I think the 49ers defense is harder-nosed and now with Kaepernick their offense has more explosive potential. I like the 49ers too so wouldn't mind them winning, but Lewis' career ending with a superbowl would be brilliant.

As a Redskins fan i would want the winner to come from the NFC, unless it was Dallas, so its a thumbs up for the 49ers... Plus one of my mates is a big Sisco fan...<ok>

I do think it will be a close game and to be honest if the Ravens did win i wouldn't say it was the biggest shock wins in the SuperBowl before now...

Obviously when it gets to the big games its pretty much depends on who has the better day in the QB and Running department. Special teams have made some big plays over the years but not to the extent that it defines who will win. Flacco leads the stats between the QB's, plus has he got the more offensive options with his team than Keepernick...? I do think that the 49ers are a better set up team both on Offense and Defense but its the big plays that make the difference and that is why i go with the 49ers all day...<cheers>

Looking forward to a great game. SF to take it 28-20...

and a bad start of the season was a death sentence and it is likely that we wont see Smith playing in the distinct yellow and red colours of the 49ers in the 2013 regular season.

1. Smith had a great start to the season, he had the highest QBR when he got hurt and had just come off an almost record setting game against Arizona. (Needed to complete 1 more pass to break the record for highest completion rating in a game. He was one pass short). I do agree starting Kaepernick was the right choice though.

2. It's gold not yellow! 49ers references the California Gold Rush in 1849. <ok>

I know Smith was injured but Harbaugh wasn't impressed during the first couple of games with him. He was clear about that in his interviews in October.
And yea I know it's gold, but you can't really tell nowadays can ya? it's more of a yellow'ish colour then gold.

It's not that he wasn't happy with Smith, he's been full of praise for Alex Smith since then, he just had to make a choice when Kaepernick destroyed a great Bears defense in primetime and then went on to beat New Orleans in New Orleans. Harbaugh then decided Kaeperick was the way forward. I'd guess if Kaepernick had lost either of those games Smith would still be the starter.

Looks to me more like that Silver/Gold they use for cars. Can't believe we're arguing about colors! <laugh>

Allright I'll give you that one, but let's just say Smith ain't the happiest human being in the world at this moment

I will be watching alone due to my lovely girlfriend deciding that she would rather sleep. Her loss! I think the 49'ers are the obvious choice however i reckon the ravens, especially Lewis, will be hard to break down in defence. That being said im going for a low scoring 9'ers victory taking them to an unprecedented 6-0 super bowl record.

Sadly my days of sitting up till the early hours are gone but shall try and watch first half. Expecting quite a close game and quite defensive. Kaepernick will have the edge on flacco offensively and will lead the niners to number 6.

I would lime to see History made and the Ravens win it to give R. Lewis the perfect send off, but I have a feeling that the 9'ers will take the trophy.
