Sterling is off with England. .. come on guys can't be reopening.

We are engaged in the dance. Sterling may already be told if he opens his mouth he gets no bonuses and will play u21 next year for all we know.

The clubs dancing on the periphery are waiting fir England to be over etc.

Yeah you are probably righ and I hope you are, I really don't want this dragging on.

It will though, it is inevitable that it will. No club is going to offer what we want day one to steal a March. They are all vultures looking for a bargain price hoping the guy goes nuts next august when he is not picked in games. I predict an interesting preseason tour in Asia for sterling.

Liverpool have turned down a bid of £25m plus add-ons from Manchester City for forward Raheem Sterling.

The Reds value the England international, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid, at £50m.

The 20-year-old joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010 and is under contract until 2017, but has rejected the offer of a new £100,000-a-week deal.

Boss Brendan Rodgers said last month he expected Sterling to stay at Anfield for the remainder of his current deal.

The bid comes a day after City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak pledged to invest in players this summer.

"You will see us in the market bringing in high-quality individuals that fit within what we are aspiring to," he said.

If I was City, I'd walk away and say take it or leave it.

Who else is going to pay more for him?

You won't sell to United, Arsenal don't need him and wouldn't pay more anyway, and Chelsea don't need him either.

That leaves abroad, but who on the continent is going put £30m+ down for a winger who's got 1 decent season on his CV?

This'll drag on imo, maybe even to the deadline.

I think City will stump up more, there's no way you should ever take the initial offer, my only worry is that Rodgers is trying to keep him.

I've no doubt they will, but I was questioning his value and whether they should mate.

There's no way he's staying, he's pushed it too far to turn back at this point, he's set on moving.

I want the deal done as soon as possible. City wants Sterling to fulfill the quota requirement.
They must be willing to pay the market value £50,000,001.

Without doubt we're getting a great deal, he's a good player but nothing special. We'll probably blow all the money on Dani Osvaldo or something though.

No way is his market value £50m at the present time mate.

With Rafa at Madrid their interests might be more likely than if Ancelotti was still there..

I think we'll get something like 30-35m plus a few add ons but will be a while before get to that stage

He wont put in the request he's all about money that's clear. I'd take the £25 million but think we can squeeze more out of them. Ability wise I'd say he's worth £18-£20 million taking his age into it.

A formal transfer request should be a stipulation before he's allowed to speak to clubs and discuss terms, if he's so desperate to leave he won't mind losing his percentage of the transfer fee.

After all "it's not about the money"

Push that price Liverpool.

I reckon we can get £30+ I just hope we are not looking to keep him. <yikes>

If our recent history is anything to go by, then it does not really matter how much we get for sterling.:bandit:

If we get £50m, we (Rodgers) will spend £50m on players with a total worth of £15m
If we get £40m, Rodgers will spend £40m on the same players and if we get £25m, the same.

Might as well take the £25m. <whistle>
