Not sure what would happen in that scenario, but they've got a 20% sell on for when he's blown out this summerWith 20% of it going to QPR, no?

I hope Rodgers is just bluffing when he says they expect him to see out his last 2 years in order to not admit they are happy to sell and therefore be held to ransom over price.
I don't want him at the club for next 2 years and leaving on a free thanks.
Yeah but probably get about 5m which is near enough nothing
Saints were in major financial trouble at the time and needed any cash they could get their hands on.If true, why didn't the club pay QPR off a couple of years ago? Like Spurs did with Saints on the Bale deal?
It would make a statement to stop players thiking about pissing about in the future though. Plus, £5m (I think it would be more) would cover our costs too; £35k per week x 52wks x 2yrs = £3.64m
Then wake upSell Sterling for £40-50m in the summer. Replace him with 2 more refined players. Shimples.
But it would deter potential targets coming to Liverpool in the future ...
Then wake up

Possibly. Not saying this is my preferred option, I'd prefer we told him to ****off now.
The fee, but now that you mention it...Which bit are you referring to - the fee that we could command, or our ability to find 2 decent replacements? Or both ...

The fee, but now that you mention it...
A Pre-FFP City might have paid that much for him possibly, but no one will pay that much for him now.
I can think of atleast a dozen better players I would want to sign that would cost similar amounts.
You can't make a player sit out years on his contract due to a dispute, I'm fairly sure there's a precedent for it.It would make a statement to stop players thiking about pissing about in the future though. I know, for one of the best talents in world football that would be a fair price. Not saying that Sterling is worth it but for one of the best talents in world football plus he's English - £40-50m is what we should be looking for.
Also, Platini has relaxed FFP rules next season - expect clubs like City to spend massively.

But we are talking about Sterling.
I think £30m max
