Oh I don't know Al - he's currently the Highlands' Matej Vydra with something like 22 goals in 19 matches & some of them were absolute crackers. I know the standard is nowhere near as high, but..........
Love the response to this question on the rumours site: 26 Jan 2013 07:15:29 Will a Watford fan come on here and tell me how this Pozzo merry-go-round of players can be considered to be within the coming FFP rules? You say you'll get Vydra etc on perm' deals, but assume that will be at a fraction of their true value as your one-man-and-a-dog crowds can barely support a Cahampionship squad, let alone quality internationals. Certainly - it is very straightforward and even financially challenged minds will surely understand this. Imagine you are Mr Pozzo and have your trousers on - in you back pocket you have your own cash - in your left front you have your club Udinese and in the right the other Watford. What you do is this you take an asset (lets say Matej Vydra) out of your left pocket and transfer it to the right. Then you go to your back pocket and take out cash and put it in the right pocket. Then Watford pay Udinese - so you take the money out of your right pocket and put it in the left. Then you say- mmm I own Udinese and they have a load of cash and I need some because I just lent it to Watford - I will ask Udinese to repay some of the loans I made to them - so you take money out of the left pocket and put it back where it started in the back pocket. Net Result - Pozzo now has loaned money to Watford not Udinese and Watford now have the asset (Vydra) It is exactly the same as other situations where shareholders make investments - in Watfords case the owners invest something far more valuable than money in their companies - they invest assets that score goals and lots of them. See - not so odd after all and completely within the rules as overseas loans are treated as sales by the authorities so they can lend us 20 players if they like and they could all play! When FFP comes along the rules will still be complied with because the proportion of the wages that Watford have to pay will be within the limits. After promotion, there is not even any need for that to be an issue because of the boost to the revenue line that promotion brings. The concept is only contentious because it is not well understood but it really is quite normal outside of football for business owners to apply their groups assets as they choose and any attempt to prevent that would not be legal as long as the terms of the deals are not dodgy (like maybe transfer pricing dodges like Starbucks etc)
Sour grapes question from what sounds like a qpha type. Merry go round it isn't, we've seen players loaned in playing with more commitment and belief than many past signings.
27 Jan 2013 09:20:16 Jeremy Helan to sign a 6 year contract with watford for a few believed to be 750,000. Guess he meant fee!
I thought he has signed on a loan deal until the end of the season OFH? - I am sure I got a text saying so yesterday, but it's all a bit of a blur. Had a lot of Notts County ale and Amstel yesterday oh and some Stella and some wine...
I think the Helan loan deal came from the sun so I wouldnt read much into it .Still no confirmation one way or the other .
I hope this is just hot air! 27 Jan 2013 09:50:44 Having fallen out of favour at Fulham, Philippe Senderos is a surprise target for Watford. While Nosworthy and Hall provide some experience, the Pozzos feel that they need a little bit more of Premier League and international stability. With senderos out of contract in the summer, it is thought Watford can get him on loan, so long as fulham can find a replacement
"Watford striker Troy Deeney is a target for Aston Villa. The Sunday Mirror says Villa boss Paul Lambert is watching Watford’s 24-year-old forward Deeney. Deeney is viewed as a potential replacement for Christian Benteke." Lambert watching Deeney. That's nice for him, oh he wants to sign him, yeah ok, riiight.
some say he's already signed and some don't..some say it's a loan and some say it's permanent...nothing official yet so we'll have to wait and see i guess..
My boss (a Man City fan) seems to think we have loaned him until the end of the season. He also says he'd be surprised if they sell him, as they rate him quite highly. If he did come to us, I would assume he'd be cover for Pudil in the left wing-back role. Makes sense seeming we have let Fanchone leave, and expect we are trying to offload Dickinson and possibly Forsyth
Why would Troy swap an up and coming team who may get to the Premiership for one who, for the moment is but, soon won't be? It is one thing playing striker for a team on a good run, but coming into a sinking ship and being expected to rescue it. I know Troy has been stupid in some of the things he has done but I don't think he is that brainless.
i hope you're right! Looking forward to hearing about Deeney's new contract, Vydra, Battocchio, Abdi, Pudil, Ekstrand...who have i forgotten? lol
Also, apparently David Beckham is training with Arsenal. I'm not too sure he is ideal for a trophy chasing, world class side such as Arsenal. But, I could imagine him doing a good job in the Championship for, say, a club who shares training facilities with Arsenal... I wonder if Zola is looking for a new Assistant Manager?...
I would also like new 1-year deals for Hall and Almunia, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of Neuton at left-wing back, to see if he is good cover for CB and LWB. Maybe a deal for Geijo too.
I remember about 8/9 years ago, when Terry Bryne was at the club, Beckham used to go down the training ground quite often to have a chat with the players, and there was talk of him ending his career with us. Unlikely thougyh, as he can still demand a pretty decent packet...
